  1. Nice start....and that people is why the Cubs should be the home team for Monroe, LA.
  2. I guess if his first ejection is on an unclaimed game, no one wins.
  3. That's true. I doubt they'd be looking much after Sunday, though.
  4. Since guest access is now re-established, can we move this thread to a secure location?
  5. I present, the Grinders. Catcher: Brad Ausmus First Base Sean Casey Second Base Craig Biggio Third Base Chone Figgins Shortstop Tony Pena Left Field Scott Podsednik Center Field Darin Erstad Right Field Jose Guillen Pitcher 1 Braden Looper Pitcher 2 Woody Williams
  6. Not a clue. It wasn't the Nick guy, I remember that much. It was either Michael, Paul, or Scott. Probably Scott as he's the desk guy.
  7. That's about right. Of course, I don't like the sound of "We got a lot of votes today..." The fewer the new votes, the more likely we win. BTW, who did you speak with?
  8. Screw that, get Sanjaya voted off Idol. Sorr, I never have and never will watch Idol.
  9. Once All-Star ballots are out, we will formulate proper strategy. I'm thinking Lee, Ramirez, and Barrett should be our focus this year. :D
  10. The bad news is that it's the comments for the update. When the update goes away, they'll delete it from the forum. But I'm sure if the Cubs win, the comments on that Sunday's story will be fun to read. I just wish I had this emoticon for the forum. :bum:
  11. lol Chris, if you ever need me to verbally berate your local paper, feel free to call. :lmao:
  12. The comments are simply linked to a board like this one. They will leave criticism up as long as it doesn't violate the TOS. I thought there was an article that included our quotes calling them out? Not so much. It included excerpts, but not the worst of them. They spun it to seem as if they appreciated us alerting them to when the votes actually hit the office.
  13. And then there is a Cubs fans response. I'm not sure where Monroe is in the state. Vance, how far are you from Houston anyway? Depending on which route you take and how fast you drive, approximately 6 hours. I can make it faster, but I go back roads and speed. Well, it's probably double that to Chicago then. True. But for years, you could watch more Cubs games on TV in Monroe than you could Astros. If they wanted to make a decision on geography, they'd choose the Rangers. In fact, many of the people who voted for the Cubs were more an anti-Astros vote. They said the Astro fans feel like they are "entitled" to be the home team and throw out the geography argument until someone mentions the Rangers. Then they want to use who has the most fans.

  16. What's interesting is every year, they've always posted a story that the balloting is over. It's 12:30 and no such story is posted. Makes me wonder if they're keeping the polls open so a few Astro fans can get in some votes.
  17. I'll wait for Sunday, but if I happen to go to Wal-Mart on Saturday, I may have to peak in the early edition.
  18. If you read the comments under today's story Link, you'll see there's an Astro fan who is none to happy with the possibility of the Cubs winning this.
  19. Thanks again! If the out of town faxes are counted, I don't see how we lose. If nothing else, maybe you guys kept their fax machine busy so Astro fans couldn't use it to fax in votes.
  20. Thanks for all the votes. Hopefully, we have enough with our lead yesterday to hold onto it.
