  1. Frenchy K's to end the Braves threat...but thanks to McCann, 1-0 Braves.
  2. If Baker became manager of the Cardinals, I'd have a smile for weeks.
  3. Update! Marquis: 112 Looper: 95 Get ready for that avatar, Micheal! Anyone want to help me design!
  4. It's not hard at all to fill the role. Nobody though, is gonna be as good as Marmol. But the Cubs have to weigh their options. If the Cubs can get a huge upgrade in the OF will it be enough to overcome the likely downgrade in the rotation and bullpen? I think it's worth a shot. I doubt Marmol in 2008 will be as good as Marmol in 2007, too. It would be incredibly rare for any reliever to have years that good back to back. And I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that they find somebody who, while not as good as Marmol, surprises heavily on the upside in 2008. I am hoping it could be found in house. No need to pay some reliever another ridiculous contract. I am praying it will be Woody, but not counting on it. Im not sold on Jeff S. just yet, but I do like the Veal & Ceda options. This is a very good topic, IMO. I hope the current Cubs brass or future Cubs brass will talk internally this offseason about it. I think it is a good idea as well, but we can be most assured that the Cubs' decision makers will not even look at it once.
  5. Player A: 266/387/556 (2007); 249/381/511 (career) age 27 Player B: 291/336/520 (2007); 272/324/470 (career) age 31 Player A, please.
  6. If you're like me, you've been wanting Dunn for a long time. I'm guessing the odds of his coming here voluntarily are negatively impacted by this. Id just assume not have another guy whose going to strike out every other at bat. Id like to have a guy who hits 266/387/556. But you keep worrying about those strike-outs while our contact hitters keep rolling into double plays.
  7. I'm hoping for the Cubs to win each series and go 6-3. That should be enough to get it done.
  8. Lee flies out to CF. Backe tags and moves to third with one out.
  9. Maybe this game will go 25 innings with the Astros winning in the bottom of the 25th, therefore eating up the Brewers pen before they head to Atlanta.
  10. A lot of threads around here are pointless. I really haven't cared much about Lou's mistakes, because frankly he makes a hell of a lot fewer than Dusty. But then, if someone wants to list them, they should be welcome to. I think using Zambrano on three days rest was fairly asinine. Lilly worked out ok on short rest, but I think risking that is always a dumb idea. Regardless....ranting about this thread is pretty pointless. I think discussing the mistakes of our manager is a very legitimate thread for a baseball board.
