  1. Saints cut McAllister today.
  2. Gathright is not bad for a bench player, but with the make-up on our bench, I'd prefer not to have him. Miles offers no power off the bench; Reed Johnson doesn't offer much power. Bako...zilch. If Gathright is on the bench, the only realy power on the bench we have is Hoffpauir who is limited in the positions he can play. Considering the make-up of the OF and Johnson and Hoffpauir on the bench, I'd rather not have a Gathright on the bench.
  3. I think he likes the banana phone.
  4. I don't care what ruins the Cardinals as long as something does.
  5. I'd still like to see us sign Nomar for a back-up job, but I don't expect anything like that to happen. It would be nice if we signed Nomar and he pushed Gathright off the roster. A bench of Nomar, Hoffpauir, Miles, Johnson, and Bako wouldn't be horrible. On the other hand, I'm not too enamored with the current bench of Hoffpauir, Miles, Johnson, Gathright and Bako.
  6. From the same article Bruce had on Soriano and the lead-off spot, it appears the last bench spot belongs to Hoffpauir. Link. With comments like this, it appears the fifth starter and final make-up of the bullpen is all that's left to be decided.
  7. you saw it, admit it. you just wanted to try out your new powers I'm actually having trouble doing what I want...so I'm really showing off my lack of mod powers.
  8. I didn't see your thread, Banedon. I'm going to merge the one I just started with yours.
  9. There's been a lot of speculation about where Soriano will hit this year in the Cubs line-up. While Lou's comments don't indicate completely that Soriano will be out of the lead-off spot, there's some indication that he'll experiment with line-ups that have Soriano somewhere other than leading off. Link. and who would take Alfonso's place at the top?
  10. Link Apparently after the 2011 season, the Cubs could opt out of their spring training agreement with Mesa and move somewhere else. I doubt it happens, but it is a situation that bears watching.
  11. I wonder who the Cubs will replace Provost with? Has there been any rumors or rumblings?
  12. I don't feel bad for Cruz, but he is the one player who was most hurt by the current market conditions combined with the current free agent compensation system. The best bet for him would be to sign a deal with Arizona.
  13. Link. So, Greg chose working with the Padres over the Cubs....
  14. Clanton was also a psycho. I think that should be noted as well.
  15. Interesting that that page said Fox was taking some grounders at third. I wonder if he would be passable as a backup CI? Has anyone heard if they are going to bring in someone else to audition for backup MI or is Fontenot going to be the only backup SS? Fox played 3b 2 years ago when I saw him play for Tennessee. In the four games, I watched he played first, third, and left.
  16. He could back up first, but that would probably be the extent of it.
  17. Bagwell had a spike in production as well. His first 3 seasons, he posted HR totals of 15, 18, 20...then he jumps to 39, is hurt one year and has 21, then jumps back to 31, 43, 34, ... now, the jumps do coincide with his prime years, but so does Sosa's jump. So other than a corked bat, what points to Sosa that doesn't point to Bagwell. If you start pointing to body types and physical developments, those same things occurred with Bagwell too.
  18. What exactly points to Sosa that doesn't point to Bagwell? A proven history of attempted cheating. So, corked bat = steroids? I'm not buying that connection.
  19. And you've yet to tell me why they aren't.
  20. Umm...try again. The only thing pointing to Sosa is conjecture. The same conjectures can be made of Bagwell.
  21. What exactly points to Sosa that doesn't point to Bagwell?
  22. There's as much pointing to Bagwell as Sosa.
  23. I'm not so sure Bagwell wasn't a juicer.
  24. Oswalt believes Arod's records should be stripped. Link.
