    Sounds like he won't start, but will be available to pinch hit. Just my interpretation. I'm sure that if Lee can play, there is no way he sits out any of the games this weekend. This is as big of a series as the Cubs have had all year.

    Anybody see the recent Oneri interview where he states that Shark had a good year and his stats lied? (I'll try to find a link) In it he stated that he believes Shark is the best pitching prospect in the system and Colvin is the best hitting prospect. Interesting perspective.

    Cesar Izturis - 197 AB's That's true. I think leaving Soto to rot in the minors in favor of Hill & Bowen will still go down as a major mistake this season. How does having a great year at AAA and building his confidence equate to rotting? The book is still out on Soto. The way some people are talking about him, he is the next Johnny Bench. Hill was hitting .300+ in Iowa and we all saw how his numbers changed when he was called up.

    They've been in a playoff hunt for months and have switched catchers more frequently than any position on the team. Lou doesn't seem to have problems switching catchers, it's specifically switching out experience for quality that gives him the willies. Maybe I'm not remembering things real well, but weren't the Cubs the hottest team in baseball when Bowen and Hill were catching? I don't blame Lou at all for not being too concerned about offensive production from the Catcher's position at that time.

    If Lou was going to pull Marquis that quickly, why in the hell didn't he pinch hit for him?

    Hopefully Lou pinch hits for Marquis now. Cubs need to win this one.

    There is something to be said for not inserting Z into what will be a charged atmosphere here on Friday night. Let him pitch on Thursday in sleepy Houston. With all the energy of the rivalry and the Cards' last chance to stay in the race, I'm afraid Z will fizzle. At the same time, Z's numbers against the Cards are pretty fantastic. Getting him a start against them might help get him locked back in. He's just as good against HOU. And Z consistently struggles on 5 days rest. There's no good reason to take him off a regular 4 rest day rotation. I don't have a problem with Z pitching in the big game. Why not use your worst pitcher against the lesser team? If you are going to pitch Tracshel (which I don't think they should) I would rather see him pitch againt the Astros than the Cardinals. I think its ridiculous that Hendry attempted to tweak the one part of the Cubs that has been consistent all year and caused this mess. I'm not making excuses for Lou, but if he doesn't pitch Trachsel anymore for the rest of the year, he makes Hendry's move look pointless (which it was).

    Looks like Lou is trying desperately to get some good production out of RF. Floyd has looked lost at the plate. I wonder if the job is Murton's to win?

    I think its safe to let Eyre pitch. Its not like the Cubs count on him in close games anyways.

Yeah, because talking about it on a message board that Marquis probably doesn't even know about is going to cause him to blow it somehow. First batter after the comment. Certainly, if not for that comment, Marquis wouldn't have done that. I agree. BTW Derek Lowe is going to only give up 1 run?
