  1. Haven't the Cubs had a top 5 NL payroll for Hendry's entire tenure? Hendry has proven he can throw lots of money around. That's about it. The farm system is bare, the Cubs are unable to win a post season game and they have limited felixibility despite a massive budget. That's not exactly the work of someone you want running the ship. Hendry has been in control of a team that has made the playoffs 50% of his tenure? Hard to think of another Cub's GM in recent history with that type of success rate.
  2. Agreed. This year's team has a lot of fight in them. With all of the injuries and the lack of production from Lee, Bradley, Soto, Dempster, Zambrano and the bullpen they have still found a way to win. Favorite aspects of the year so far: Soriano -- even though much maligned when he signed his big contract, has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down. He seems to be like a good wine and continues to get better with age. Theriot -- the guy took a beating over the winter, and has found a way to improve over last year. Harden -- his health issues seem to be fading with each start. One thing is for sure, he is NO Mark Prior. The guy has heart. Fukudome -- to think that Fukudome wasn't even guaranteed a job in CF. Now he has to be one of the best CF in the league both Offensively and defensively. Lilly -- Most thought Hendry overpaid for 4 years, but Lilly has been terrific this year and really seems to be getting comfortable with the Cubs. Marshall -- Lou better not be serious about moving him from the rotation. He is one of the best starters at this point. Scales -- what a story. He is making the Miles signing look worse everyday. Hoffpauir -- Giving DLee a run for his money. Gregg -- another much maligned player is finally starting to show some worth.
  3. Assuming the sale is completed with Ricketts, I could not have imagined a scenario where Ricketts would fire Hendry or Crane Kenney prior to the end of the season. Overall, I think Hendry has done a good job over the last few years.
  4. hasn't he been in the system forever.
  5. He's not going to be fired....he just got an extension and is well respected within the Cubs organization. And the team's injuries will be more than enough of an excuse to keep him employed. We shall see once the sale is complete.
  6. Hendry is going to be immediately fired once the new owner becomes official. His offseason was on of the worst in recent history. WTF was he thinking?
  7. Is Braun coming up soon so we can see him get drilled in the ribs?
  8. Ill be shocked if Patton is on this team tomorrow, and I wont be all that surprised if Cotts isnt. I was all for giving Patton a shot, but this is getting ridiculous. Lou won't pitch him most nights, and when he does he is terrible.
  9. wtf is up with that? Mine is still on commerical. :x
  10. Maybe the Padres will try to get the Cubs to get back in the Peavy bidding, by throwing in Kouzmanoff. Granted his stats are pretty, but maybe being traded to his favorite team work some magic. :-)) :-))
  11. Harrison is off to a real nice start in the minors. .939 OPS for a 2B this year  and a .970 OPS in Boise last year for 30 games. Seems to have a little speed with 5SB already (though he has 5 CS). At only 21 yrs old, maybe he is a player to keep an eye on. Would be interested to see what Nate's thoughts on him are ?
  12. Good luck with that lineup Sean. Maybe Lou doesn't want to win 5 in a row too soon in the season?
  13. Hey at least the Bulls won! Hendry's dumb moves have finally caught up with the team. This team is an absolute mess. The bullpen is a disaster, the bench is terrible, and Miles is now my least favorite player. What makes things worse is that the minor leagues are absolutely barren. Please complete the sale of the Cubs soon, so we can get a real GM.
  14. I'm no fan of Vizciano, but he hasn't looked terrible in the few times he has pitched. This move makes very little sense. There must be more going on than we are aware of.
  15. Obviously we knew that Jake Fox could hit, but his numbers are ridiculous at this point 7 Hr's 24 RBI's two weeks into the season? He is really forcing the Cubs to pay attention to him similar to Hoffpauir last year. If nothing else, his trade value has to be at an all time high.
  16. Looks like Jackson had a decent game. Papelbon got lit up though.
  17. Vitters is picking up where he left off last year. 3/4 w/2B and a 3B. BA over .400. Nice to see him come out of the gate strong. :clapping:
  18. Did Lilly find some velocity, or is he junk balling it today?
  19. Colvin 2/3 with a BB  Not a bad start. Hopefully he is healthy and can put himself back on the map.
  20. The new HD viewer with pause rewind/FF is a big improvement over last year.
  21. I'm sure Lou is really happy with the Cubs acting clueless. Is Harden really topping out in the mid 80's?
  22. The main thing is that Fox can be sent to AAA. Guzman is out of options, and there's no way he'd clear waivers. Furthermore, he's still just coming back from TJS. Considering how talented he is, it's worth keeping him around if you have the space for him. Considering how awful Gaudin looked at the end of last year and how terrible he's pitched this Spring Training, I'm hoping the Cubs can find a trading partner for him, send Samardjiza and Fox down to AAA, and keep Guzman and Patton. I'm hoping that they give Patton a shot or work out a trade to keep him. I realize he hasn't pitched above high-A ball, but he has a good arm and has taken full advantage of his opportunity. Gaudin doesn't inspire any confidence with his career 1.52 WHIP. Fortunately, the Cubs are decently stacked in Iowa for the bullpen. If Gaudin is traded or released, Shark can be called up or Fox.
  23. Wow, what a bad week for the Cubs farm system. Lets hope that the new ownership, takes control soon enough to get some better people in charge of the draft before June.
  24. They didn't even try Harvey at Pitcher? What a waste of a pick.
  25. For the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed listening to the Sox telecast. Maybe it was because Steve Stone had broadcast so many years for the Cubs, but he seemed to so the impossible and make Hawk listenable. Heck, Hawk even was complimenting several Cubs players, instead of taking cheap shots.
