  1. I realize it's Offman, but... why is it that everytime the Cubs trade for a player they always try and immediately sign him to a long term deal? Maybe Pie is on the way to Philly or Cincy for Abreu or Dunn...
  2. ESPN News is reporting. Gammons said Clemens may look at the Rangers or he may decide to sign back with the Astros on May 1st. Retirement looking like most probable. I wonder where this leaves the Astros now.
  3. If the Bradley rumors come to fruition and we trade Patterson for him, would you be content with the outfield of Murton, Pierre, Bradley? How about trading Murton and Hill to the Reds for Dunn?
  4. Newest info on Abreu from Rotoworld:
  5. If he has any clue about how best to maximize the lineup, then it should be Murton. Which means it will be Neifi.
  6. And what if it's .326 like it was last year?
  7. Haha. Anna's gonna love living in KC.
  8. Phil Rogers says trade for Juan Pierre is "close". :puke:
  9. They're going to talk to Phil Rogers from the meetings after the break.
  10. The Score mentioned earlier a Patterson for Bradley straight up.
  11. Looks like you're right. Rotoworld:
  12. Thursday. Nope. December 20th. Jeff is correct. Thursday is the deadline to offer arbitration to your FA, and those players can either accept or reject. December 20th is the date to tender contracts to your own players. So the decision on Bradley has to come on the 8th then, right? No. Bradley is not a FA. He's arbitration eligible bound to team control. He's in the same boat as Patterson, Zambrano, and Hairston are with the Cubs. A decision on him does not have to come until December 20th. Duh. Nevermind. I'm being stupid. I was thinking Bradley was a FA.

  14. Thursday. Nope. December 20th. Isn't the 8th the day teams have to decide to offer arbitration to their arbitration eligible players? Then I thought the players had until the 19th to decide whether to accept or decline arbitration.
  15. Hendry is going to vastly overpay for Pierre. I can just feel it. :x
  16. Bradley is under contract but the Dodgers are sick of his issues and will ship him out for basically anything. If Beane is really offering Zito for him he's out of his mind. Bradley is arbitration eligible though. If he isn't traded by the end of the week the Dodgers could non tender him and Bradley would become a free agent. Gammons said on Baseball Tonight just a little while ago that the A's are trading for Bradley. Take it for what it's worth. Are or aren't? Whoops. Aren't.
  17. Stark said the Cubs are very active. Looking for a leadoff hitter right now. At least it's good to know Hendry is working on things.

  19. When asked if Prior was any more of a risk than AJ Burnett, Phillips said "well, Burnett has had surgery to fix his injurys." Wow.
  20. -Clemen’s agent said if Clemens had to make a decision today he would retire. We’ll find out soon enough. Astros are handcuffed waiting for Clemens’ decision. They can’t do anything until he decides. They are wondering if they should offer him arbitration before Thursday. Basically, right now the Astros are sitting on their hands doing nothing while they wait until Clemens makes his decision. Gammons said if he comes back he’ll only come back to play for the Astros. With all the arbitration eligible players the Astros payroll will be around $90 million. If Clemens comes back they will be over $100. Doesn't sound too good for the Astros.
  21. -Two team race for Trevor Hoffman between the Indians and the Padres. The Indians are miles ahead of the Padres though for his services. -Mentioned in passing the Prior for Abreu article and basically laughed it off. Said it would never happen. -Talked at length about AJ Burnett. Burnett has a clause in his new contract with the Blue Jays that he can opt out of his contract after 3 years if he wants to. Toronto had to overpay for him because players don’t want to go to Toronto.
