    I disagree. Furcal is now the 2nd highest paid shortstop behind Jeter. He's going to make more money than Tejada next year. That's a complete joke. On a side note, how bad does it look now that we didn't put more effort into getting Tejada a couple of years ago??? :cry:

    13MM/ year versus longerterm security means its about the money... It's pretty obvious that it was always about the money. If it wasn't he would have re-signed with the Braves a long time ago.

    So 3 years and $39.5 milion got it done for the Dodgers. I have to say that I'm proud of Hendry for not going any higher. The Dodgers are insane offering Furcal that much money. I am a little worried about what Hendry has planned as his "Plan B" though. I guess we'll find out eventually.

    You have to figure that Hendry is on the phones with Florida right now throwing tons of prospects for Pierre, so we're definitely going to need a big bat in RF. I don't think Nixon/Mench can be considered this.

    HAHAHAHA. This has to be the best thread ever. Some guy comes on here claiming that Len PM'ed him about Furcal becoming a Cub and then 10 minutes later it's shot down by the LA Times. Gotta love message board rumors!!!!

    That would be me. Len told me earlier tonight that he's "100%" sure that Furcal is coming to the Cubs and it may not be announced until Monday. He is expected to sign mid-day Sunday. He also said Pierre is more than likely on the way. Welcome to the board! I daresay it's the greatest first post in history :) Has Len, perchance, mentioned what we would give up in a Pierre trade? Either that or his only post on NSBB... :lol:

    I'd have a tendency to believe AramisFan if he says he talked to Len over PM, actually. I agree. I can't imagine someone with over 1,500 posts on this board all of a sudden starting a bogus rumor. A lie like that would be like signing your own virtual execution papers. I must confess that I'm now worried about the terms of the contract with reports of $13m/year from LA. Question is, would Aramisfan be willing to stake his membership on NSBB for this??? :lol:

    I don't think they've done anything so far. Cal Eldred retired and they declined the option on Larry Walker. Those are the only two things I see on their mlb transactions page.

He's salivating at making $13 million a year.

    Offman on the Score just said Furcal would make his decision by sometime tommorow. At least there is an ending in sight to this saga.

    I just tuned in for a minute to see what they were saying. They were talking about how Zito could cause trouble in the clubhouse because he's "such a weirdo" because he does yoga and crap. They also were talking about how Dusty couldn't control Pierzynski when they both were in San Francisco. Last I checked Dusty wasn't the manager when Pierzynski played for the Giants. Morans!!!!

    For what it's worth, Levine was on ESPN 1000 this morning and said these were the offers on the table for Furcal: Dodgers - 3 years, $36 million Braves - 4 years. $32 million Cubs - 5 years, $47 million A little less that what's been reported. Taken with a grain of salt of course. He also said this whole fiasco could drag out into the winter meetings.
