  1. I don't think it makes Hendry look dumber. I think the Tribune told Hendry they were opening the purse strings because they knew if Hendry spent a bunch of money this year he would raise the value of the Cubs. I read somewhere that after this offseason the Cubs value has gone up to around $600 million. How does spending a bunch of money in an inflated personnel market make a team more valuable? Are the Royals more valuable because they signed Gil Meche? I'm not an economics wiz but I always thought organizational debt was an undesirable thing for a business.

  3. I don't know how I feel about this. I'm actually pretty worried that the Cubs are going to get sold to an owner that is going to cut payroll and just use the Cubs as a money-maker instead of putting money into the team trying to make it a winner.
  4. Let's hope so. Things seem pretty optimistic coming from both sides, but that can always change quickly. Hopefully something gets done today so Z can just worry about pitching tommorow.
  5. You had to know there was no way the paper would allow the Cubs to win. We could vote over and over and over again and the results would always come out the same. Vance, I'd just not even worry about it next year.
  6. Yes! It's baseball season!!! I can't wait. I'll definitely be watching tonight. I hope the Mets kill them. :D
  7. Just got a thing in the mail from Comcast (my cable provider) which said they'd pay $50 of the cost of MLB.TV if I signed up for the full year subscription. That's not bad. I might have to do that.
  8. Batista isn't fooling anyone.
  9. Man, how did that stay fair? That looked like he was way out in front of it. :D
  10. I know. I'm in shock. Not used to seeing that from the cubs. :D
  11. The Mariner's official site and Bruce Miles both have Miguel Batista getting the start for the Mariners tonight, not Ramirez.
  12. Murton with a run-scoring double. God I love Murton.
  13. Geez. Get Muskat out of the booth already. I'd rather listen to Plesac.
  14. Prior is pissed boo hoo. He didn't earn a spot in the rotation this spring. Who the hell is Prior to be pissed at anyone? Seriously? I have to agree. He hasn't been healthy in a couple years now, he's throwing in the upper 80's, and he hasn't been all that spectacular this spring. He hasn't really shown anything that says he should have a spot on the team. I don't see the Cubs saying something like "yeah we have to pay his check even though he's injured and hasn't pitched in months because we're his employer and we're required to."
  15. Big C!!! He's been looking really good.
  16. Excellent. Colving playing in RF today. I haven't seen much of him.
  17. Just got my White Sox tickets in the mail today. I'm thinking I should wait to put them up on Ebay. Still a lot of tickets on Ebay right now. I'm looking to help pay for my move to Chicago, so I want to get as much money out of them as I can.
  18. According to the front page of diamondbacks.mlb.com Doug Davis will be pitching against the Cubs today. It's a split squad team for the D'Backs.
  19. That's really got to tick him off. Hopefully he uses that as fuel. I guess with Pagan being optioned that means that Lou is going with a 12-man pitching staff.
  20. Good for him. He was struggling the past few games.
  21. so the cubs must be scoring like 15 runs since this inning seems to be taking forever.
