Yes Seems like he could work if we ensured he brought in a good dc and didn't use the 3-3-5. My thinking is he never was given enough time to make the roster fit his offense in Michigan. Rich Rod's recruiting classes were terrible at Michigan. Tiny slot receivers everywhere. We're still recovering. He's a great offensive mind, but that's about it. Really? His 09 class was top 10 and includes most of the good players on the team (Nard, Lewan, Fitz, Gallon Roh). Even his 2010 class had Gardner. The WR weren't great but that's one position where a true freshman can often step right in and contribute. He only really had 2 classes as he was signed in Dec 07 (when Lloyd had mostly recruited the class) and fired in Jan 11. I knew UM fans didn't like the fit of a lot of his players for Hoke's offense but I didn't think there was a question that his 09 class was strong. 2009 class produced some decent talent (not great by any means), but 2010 class has been a disaster with over half of the recruits already gone. Of course, some of that is the coaching change, but there was a lot of attrition before the coaching change. The defensive recruiting was awful. It's like he didn't even care about defense. Denard has been our entire team the past couple of seasons because we have no other athletes on offense. That's the main reason why Gardner started the season as a WR. Fitz is a decent RB, but he's not great by any stretch. Lewan is a 1st round draft pick, but that's really it. There just isn't much talent on Michigan right now. Some of that is because Carr gave up on recruiting his final seasons and the rest is because RR's classes have not been great. I think Rich Rod is perfect for a smaller program like Arizona, but I wouldn't want him at Tennessee if I were a Vol's fan.
