  1. I'm very disappointed in all of you. I get out of a long day of court and I expect to see pictures of scantily clad girls in Cubs attire in the game thread to get me excited about tonight. But I see nothing. Shame on you all.
  2. You would be correct but I doubt they play a late game on Sunday. If a game is played at all, I'd put money on an afternoon game.
  3. CubinOK, I like where your head is at. I proclaim, with no real authority, this game thread shall be filled with partially clothed hot girls as a sacrifice to the Cubs to allow them to actually beat the Cardinals.
  4. Thanks for the warning What does this mean? It means that its filled with sarcastic irony, truthiness, and multiple levels of hilarity that some of those involved won't even get.
  5. This thread is the baseball equivalent to the Colbert Report.
  6. Whats the big deal? Doesn't Houston have a roof?
  7. I felt he got squeezed by the ump several times, his stuff looked great. If Lou had gone to him instead of Howry we win that game last night in 9. His stuff was electric. Especially that one pitch that hit 91 but had the break of most mortals' curve. He sure looks like a good option to replace Howry on the playoff roster.
  8. Well with your extensive knowledge of the Cubs, I am sure that you were aware that Big Z had a no-no taken away from him by a bs umpire call at first a few years back. Granted it was a safe or out call but the Cubs didn't send a DVD of all of the replays of the call after the game. Thanks for your trolling though.
  9. How about we eliminate the Pirates and Reds officially from the division race tonight. And it'd be real nice to do it with the Pirates toughing out a win.
  10. CSN? Really?! All days games should be on WGN, especially when I stay home sick from work.
  11. Considering we had no shot at the division and only held the lead in the wild card, probably not all that high. No, it was absurdly high before the collapse. Something like 88%. That's what I thought and how I try to keep myself from getting too giggly when reading these things. Although it is getting harder and harder considering if we go a lowly 15-14 from here on out, the Brewers have to go 21-9 the rest of the way just to tie us for division lead.
  12. No... this is what happens when you let people with fat fingers enter data on these little itty bitty keyboards !! That should have read........... CUBS' bullpen load during the last week..... Sun Sat Fri Thurs Wed Tues Mon Totals 24 Aug 23 Aug 22 Aug 21 Aug 20 Aug 19 Aug 18 Aug vs Wash vs Wash vs Wash vs Cincy vs Cincy vs Cincy no game pitcher IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit IP Pit Cotts 0.7 14 1.0 10 1.7 24 Gaudin 2.0 52 2.0 52 Howry 1.0 8 1.0 8 Marmol 1.0 26 0.7 4 1.0 14 1.0 11 3.7 55 Marshall 1.0 18 1.0 18 Samardzija 1.0 19 1.0 10 2.0 29 Wood 1.0 18 1.0 16 2.0 34 Totals 2.0 45 1.7 22 3.7 74 2.0 32 2.0 20 2.0 27 13.3 220 At least you know we're reading. Keep up the good work.
  13. Fred, you have that K Wood threw 116 pitches two outings ago in your bullpen load chart. Was Dusty Baker back for that game and I missed it?
  14. He's also been one of the luckiest players in the majors, crappy LD% notwithstanding. Happy about his isoD though Theriot's BABIP is right in line with his LD%. How has he been lucky? Well when you don't know how to properly use those stats, it's really easy just to quote them so you look like you know what you are talking about even if you are just spewing venom. And back on topic, I really haven't noticed a change in Theriot's batting stance.
  15. Where's Fred with the Stats at today???
  16. I think he switches it up based upon how he's been doing.
  17. First night game ended up getting rained out. God supports day baseball.
  18. R. Kelly is that you???? R, good call on the Josh Hamilton point. :good:
  19. That really has nothing to do with it. I think he finally adjusted to his loss of velocity and now is back on track. I agree. I think it doesn't matter to him if he is the '#1' or the '#5' He just goes out there to get a W for his team. I highly doubt anyone went up to him after the Harden trade and saidyou are now officially #4. there was actually a ceremony. He was left off of the stand and was forced to listen to the Canadian and Venezuelan National Anthems and had the same look on his face as Nastia Lueken after losing beam to little Shawn Johnson.
  20. What was our playoff expectation percentage in 2004 at its highest?
  21. That was the epic 5-game set against the Cardinals ... the DH Game 2 was the only game the Cubs lost in that series. That was one of the greatest regular season series I've ever witnessed. The loss in game 2 of the DH on some really poor umpiring really ignited the team the rest of the way. "The Cardinals came into Chicago thinking they were better than the Cubs. They left knowing they weren't." I think it is about time for the 2008 spark to really kick things into high gear.
  22. It watched a little bit of the game and it seemed like Hawk Harrelson enjoyed working with Plesac. I found it funny that at the end of the game, Hawk signed off with "Sox win, Sox win". I don't know if it was just the way he did it that night or if he was trying to parody/mock the Cubs broadcast. Cubs fans should not fixate any attention on the Sox inferiority complex. That's what they want. The proper response is, "oh, you wish you were as cool as us, cute." And then move on.
  23. How small? Tornados are so unpredictable it could hit the mound and nothing else. But I'm guessing if a 2 or 3 hit the scoreboard, it'd be in big trouble.
  24. Exactly what I was thinking. And I willing to bet Wolf will be out of baseball by this time next year like Morris. It's like deja vu all over again.
  25. 12 team non keeper. Offense is R, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, E, AVG, OPS. Pitching is IP, W, L, SV, HR, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP. I was offered Lincecum for Milton Bradley and J.D. Drew (two guys I picked up as Free Agents). It would leave me a core OF of Soriano, Burrell, and McLouth. And there are a few decent free agent pickups to be had to fill in as a UTIL. Thoughts? I'm inclined to pull the trigger on it.
