  1. Those spewing this vitriol do realize we are talking about a separation of $800K, right? On a payroll over $140 Million, right? I'm not sure everyone who has posted in this thread read the actual dollar amounts in the first post. The Cubs don't need Theriot for forever, but they do need him now so that we can be patient with Castro until he is completely ready to make the move. So just split the middle to $3 mill and call it a day.
  2. Wait a minute... someone thought Matt Stairs was a second baseman? And does anyone know the record for number of teams played for in the majors? He's got to be getting up there.
  3. Someone tells you they are close to signing an outfielder but can't say who because they don't want to screw up the deal?
  4. QUIT TALKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!! When are people associated with MLB going to realize that talking about this crap is bad for the game? Unfortunately, I know the answer is never. But baseball people really need to go the school of media relations that the NFL people subscribe to when it comes to "PED." Mention it then NEVER talk about it again. i.e. "Oh by the way, Shawn Merriman is going to be suspended a quarter of the season for using PED :-" And in other news,...." Even guys who didn't play like John Clayton fall in line so there's no reason baseball's similar reporters couldn't do the same. Talk about the game. Or is the product on the field not good enough now to promote? I, for one, am tired of this stuff being news.
  5. Those are all pretty terrible. I am going to wear these to meet with clients.
  6. This guy is either ignoring the Mets from a few years back or he's Steve Phillips trying to save himself. Schmuck would be an appropriate pen name.
  7. Yea, pissed off in a way no one would take serious because it is so cute.
  8. On Mike and Mike, they just said that this trade really benefits all teams. Now, I'm not sure they know who Max Scherzer is but how on earth is this a good trade for Arizona, they seem to be getting absolutely hosed only to make Detroit better in the deal.
  9. PPR and Return Yards League (although it's only a point for every 25 yds). I need one of these three for my 3rd WR option: Ginn v. NE Avant v. ATL Cribbs v. SD I am leaning towards Cribbs b/c he usually does something exciting and the Chargers should score. Would anyone else do anything different?
  10. revoke their voting rights. I thought it was funny when I saw a little Timmy K breakdown of Greinke winning and he seemed to put a lot of effort into justifying Greinke winning despite such a low win total. Like he was embarrassed because he supported a guy that didn't win 20. and then some local NY news guy went on a little bit about how many fewer complete games this year's winners had than the winners from the 60's. I can't believe that is a story. I had a buddy who's a Cardinals fan say that someone who made zero post season starts should not get the Cy Young in defense of saying Wainwright and Carpenter got screwed. I pointed out that Bob Gibson would probably need one of his Cy Youngs taken away then.
  11. The stadium interior, especially the concourse and food stands remind me a lot of Victory Field in Indy. Obviously on a bigger scale and with seats in the outfield but a lot of similar concepts.
  12. Norwood is hurt. I wouldn't play either of them if Turner plays. I would recommend Snelling over Norwood, though. Ditto. And why would you drop Beanie Wells after his two most productive weeks? It appears as though he is passing Hightower as RB1 on the depth chart.
  13. I'd start Jackson. NO is not a great run defense, and as they showed against Indy STL might actually still run Jackson even when they are way behind. I have no idea which of the 3 I'd bench though as they seem to be about the same this week. I agree with the Jackson sentiment. Bench Forte, just look at the guy's numbers and Pat Willis is going to be hitting him the backfield an awful lot. Marshawn's got a great matchup and with captain checkdown back giving him more receiving yards makes it that much better. And Marion Barber should have a good day. For the record, I was right about Forte's inability to run the ball. All of those receiving yards though... oops.
  14. Yes, take off the Bear goggles. Not enough consistency in that offense. Cutler could do better, especially if the Vikes put on cruise control against the Lions, but he could also do significantly worse and I don't think the limited upside is worth it. Favre should get the nod, and he may deserve it every week here on out, except possibly when the Vikings face the Bengals.

  16. Sounds like Hester missed practice again yesterday and may not go. Harvin is guaranteed to get you 0 points in week 9.
  17. After some back and forth countering the current offer is me giving up Cassel, Steve Smith (CAR), and Turner for DeSean Jackson (Return Yds Count), Rivers, and Cadillac. I think I get better at two positions while getting worse at one. But I am still hoping for some outside thoughts on if anyone else would do it?
  18. No, no one decent.
  19. I was offered: Carnell Williams, Philip Rivers, Roy Williams for Michael Turner, Cassel, and Pierre Garcon This league has a dumb flex option where you can use any offensive player including QB, so essentially you are starting two QBs every week. So the upgrade in QB may be worth it and I think Garcon and Williams are a wash and I may come out ahead if Gonzalez ever gets healthy. But Cadillac for the Burner, am I giving up too much there? Here's the rest of my roster: QB Favre and Cassell; WRs Steve Smith (Car), Greg Jennings, Cotchery, Garcon, and Mason; TEs Owen Daniels and Vernon Davis; RBs Turner, Thomas Jones, McGahee, and Jerome Harrison. Thanks in Advance
  20. Close call... you are shallow in WR. But I don't know that I would do it since Collins is pretty useless.
  21. Oops. Yea, that hurt.
  22. See above for my thoughts on Garcon. And has a WR for Buffalo caught a TD yet? I'd go with the up and comer over the disappointment so far.
  23. I need two of Garcon v. Seattle, Jennings v. Minn., Cotchery v. NO, and Mason v. NE. Standard scoring. I'm leaning towards Garcon and Cotchery. Jennings has a bum wrist and will see a heavy dose of bubble coverage with Winfield hawking him. And I like Mason the least this week. I think Cotchery is the most obvious as the Jets are going to have to pass and apparently Sanchez has a man-crush on Jericho. And I like Indy to throw the ball all over Seattle and with the focus on Wayne, frenchy should have a good day. Anyone think otherwise? Thoughts?
  24. p.s. don't trade welker in a PPR. But I'm not sure you start him unless you are able to switch him out at the last second thanks to the hooded sweatshirt.
  25. My brain hurts
