  1. McClout steals second, no DP. I love how people run at will on this team. K please, Marquis.
  2. freddy sanchez bunted first pitch foul. wtf?
  3. Is he ok? Pat didn't say so i'm assuming nothing serious. He just said Dave was 'pinch hitting' for him.... Ron was also losing his voice after last game, and the flu has been going around the stadium recently, so I'd imagine it's pretty temporary. Pat "spoke with him earlier, he wanted to be here, a little congeestion, just a little too much for today, wants to be here badly, he thought it'd be wise to lay low and take the day off, likely back tomorrow."
  4. I may be able to take an inning or two of PBP around the 4th or 5th, but I'll only be on gameday audio, so my input would be behind most reactions. Let's do this Marquis. Sucking not allowed.
  5. Likewise for myself and cuse as well. Thanks in advance to whoever.
  6. I predict one actual DP for every five predictions. Go Cubs! You can't hit into that many DPs in a 9 inning game. I predict Sori leads off the game with a GIDP.
  7. So nervous... Let's do this, Cobs!!
  8. Corey provost just wrapped up the pregame by saying "Pat hughes and Dave Otto will be back with you shortly." Ron was losing his voice last time, and I guess the off day wasn't enough to recover. Dave Otto in the booth will definitely be bad mojo for the game.
  9. I'm 2-1 this season, with my only loss coming on the day Z served up a meatball to Matt Cain. I saw Jason Marquis and Rich Hill pwn the other two days. Jon's just picking a new starter to get into the win column this season, I wouldn't worry too much.
  10. I predict someone in this thread will correctly predict a Cubs GIDP at least once today.
  11. Definitely. Most of the success in September so far has been from someone different stepping up every time. Sori, Ramirez, Cliff, Soto, Riot have all had big games. Pittsburgh adjusted their rotation to throw three lefties at us, Monroe was brought in for his numbers against lefties. The time is now, Craig.
  12. I've been saving vacation days all summer for this. I don't know if you'll have to go to the box office to return them or if you will be able to do it by mail, but you can definitely return them one way or the other. I'm in class right now, so the Air Force won't let me take leave. Technically, I'm not even supposed to go outside a 500-mile radius even on my off time, but I'm willing to make an exception and take the chance. I've got 45 vacation days saved up right now, so that's not the issue. Hopefully they can clinch by Friday, so I can still have the 7-day advance purchase window for the airline tickets, which wouldn't be nearly as refundable.
  13. The games at Wrigley are on Saturday and Sunday of a weekend on which I will also be off Friday and Monday. I'm giving serious considerations to trying to obtain tickets and hop a southwest flight back to town for the weekend. Does anyone know the answer to the previous questions about ticket refunds if the Cubs end up not getting in, or if we have tickets to game four but the Cubs end up sweeping?
  14. Fixed for the lack of need for realism in a thread like this.
  15. I've always felt that it was pretty unlikely to get an actual split in time between the two, but it's nice. I'd be happy if Soto were regularly getting 1 start per series, just because of how unlikely it is that Kendall's time would decrease any more than that, but this is kinda cool. Geovany Soto.
  16. Yea, with three lefties this weekend, Jock and Uncle cliff should get some rest and a PH or two and start pretty fresh on Tuesday.
  17. Badass lineup, except for Monroe, but what are you gonna do? Let's do this. Freaking awesome. 2.5 hours to go. Effing win, Cobs!
  18. I'm on the same boat. There will also probably be chunks of the game (most likely toward the end, unfortunately :x) where I will be unable to even utilize Pat and Ron, and I will be relying on this thread.
  19. Yes. The magnitude of the drought adds more intensity to times like this when they're within sniffing distance of the playoffs, but they will always have a broader fanbase which shrinks and grows along with the Cubs' success in a given season.
  20. The first weekend in October is Columbus Day weekend and 4 days long for me. If the NLDS happens to go to a fifth game and it's played in SD on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday that weekend, I'm probably going to be heading down. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/ps_07.jsp Both NLDS Game 5's in the first round are on Tuesday, October 9. Games 1 and 2 for both NLDS series are on Wednesday, October 3 and Thursday, October 4. Those would be the road games for the Cubs in the first round. Yea, I saw that and was not amused. I wonder if there's any way the Cubs can play the Padres AND have home field advantage... Ah, forget it. I'm fresh out of excuses to avoid helping my mom move that weekend.
  21. Here's another article about it.
  22. Isn't this the second time Griffey's season has ended at Wrigley? (edit - NOT disagreeing with you. At all.)
  23. Never underestimate the power of our suckiness. All nine games remaining are against teams who have had success against the Cubs this year. The Reds gave everything they had, even Griffey's right nut, in order to play spoiler, and we can expect the same the rest of the way. Winning 5 or 6 to finish off the season would definitely be a success. Also, I know I'm in the minority here, as others can't get away with following during work, but I'm really glad tomorrow is a day game. I'm getting way too pumped right now to wait all freaking day for them to play.
  24. And this they couldnt have done to the Brewers? MLB rules prevented the Brewers from using the Cardinals' pitchers in that series. Yet another conspiracy designed to keep the Cubs out of the playoffs.
