  1. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/ARamwalkoff.jpg Also, the date was the 29th of June. You can go browse through the game threads, starting at the end and working toward the beginning, and find a copy of it fairly quickly that way. It would be a little larger than this one.
  2. As siuc said, the optical zoom part is key. As far as crisp action shots, look for an action setting. Most cameras will have a setting with a quicker shutter and reduced exposure time, where fast-moving objects show up more clearly (this works both in day games and under the lights, but sometimes it's harder to get this setting to come out clearly at night games, and it's definitely higher quality in day games). I was in SF sitting at a similar vantage point, but probably a good 100-150 feet farther away, and 12x optical zoom was still plenty to take pretty good action shots. It even came out clearly enough that, after taking the picture, I was able to crop it at an additional 2 or 2.5x zoom without losing much of the quality. Here's an example of before and after the digital zoom from farther away seats (deliberately shrunken) on the same picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Cubs-Giants%2007/000Tinyzoomoutcrop.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Cubs-Giants%2007/000Tinyzoomincrop.jpg So the optical zoom and action setting should do fine in getting you good shots. Remember to share whatever you end up getting!
  3. Fielder makes it 4-0. Holy crap. Good thing this one ended early.
  4. Gritty McScrapper muffs the ball, Braun reaches first. Two on for Fielder.
  5. JJ Hardy RBI double. Thanks Wainwright.
  6. inning-ending GIDP Ah, I guess MLB Gameday is jacked up. It's showin me the top of 1st with nobody on, nobody out. Heh. Close it and pull it back up. Mine is keeping up okay.
  7. Leadoff walk to Weeks. Strikes please.
  8. With TLR having the history with Lou as far back as he does and so clearly being a lame duck manager, I really don't buy that he would go out of his way to screw the Cubs with something as low as throwing games to a contender. The Cardinals may not have much left in the tank, but I believe Tony will give the Brewers what little trouble he's capable of giving.
  9. Plus, we aren't facing quaility pitching. The whole Marlins series the pitchers have ERA in the 5's. If you can't take 2/3 or sweep these guys you might as well pack it up. This should be over by Friday. We got swept by those fools earlier this year. Yeah, but that was during the dark days of this season. Anyone could have swept the Cubs then...and sometimes did. That was actually right about the lowpoint of the season. The two games after being swept by the Marlins were the Barrett-Z fight and the Piniella ejectio. The Marlins also had a lot going for them at the time that has long since passed. Expecting 2 of 3 isn't at all unfair, and not getting swept the last two series is all the Cubs really NEED to do.
  10. It would not surprise me if the Brewers go 7-0 the rest of the way. Cameron and Bradley are both out so the Padres have next to no offense left. Young has been bad since his injury and I still don't think Peavy will pitch in the series. Now I'm not saying to expect 7-0 but it will not be a surprise if it happens either. The problem is I think even if the Brewers go 7-0 the Cubs still take the division. I'm going to nitpick the wording here, because I think winning 7 in a row would be a surprise for pretty much any team, especially when that stretch is set to begin immediately following three consecutive losses. It's my no means out of the realm of possibility, but it would most certainly be a surprise were it to actually happen.
  11. interesting He made you type that And he made you type that, too! my mind == blown away. Whoa. http://zulfiqar.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/neo_whoa_1.jpg
  12. I want to echo this post. Any fanbase in baseball in the Brewers' position would have people feeling the same way, but it's a pretty small and deliberate sample size represented in the quotes in this thread. I don't have the time now, but when I get home, I'm sure it won't be too tough to pull up quotes of a much more level-headed nature from over there. By and large, that's a decent community.
  13. I use the Canon S3 IS. Has an optical 12X zoom which makes all the difference in the world. I love it. Here are all the shots I took from yesterday for those interested and also a link for those lucky enough to be banned from Photobucket at work. :( http://www.flickr.com/photos/siuc1996/sets/72157602133186916/detail/ Those are really nice shots. The rapid fire on my camera (I forget what kind it is) doesn't shoot as quickly as yours seemed to. I would only get 2 or 3 pictures in Z's windup. Thanks for the alternate!
  14. Online somewhere? Or did you have it TiVo'd? mlb.tv archived games have been free for a while now.
  15. I don't believe it matters. If the Yankees lose it will be Arod's fault regardless of how well he does. This true, he could heat up and put up numbers that are way above even his career norms and it would still be his fault according to NY media, but if he slumps and hits below .300 with only 1 or 2 HR in another first round exit, he would go from being merely a scapegoat to lynched in a witch hunt. The worse his numbers in the playoffs, the louder the clamoring for his head will be.
  16. It's threads like this which renew my hatred for this base's policy of blocking photobucket :x Thanks anyway though, I'm sure they look nice.
  17. Sweet Jeebus  This makes it unbelievably tempting to reduce the number of people I'm bringing down to one, then selling off the other two to pay for my plane ticket and two days' worth of beer.
  18. meh. i was hoping to see things thrown around. that was pretty tame. I do agree with Yost in that there should be accountability. Umpires blow so many calls, and you never hear anything about them being punished. I'm not saying they should be perfect, but if a guy is blowing too many calls, being overly aggressive or argumentative, or calling an inconsistent or lousy strike zone, he should be fined, suspended or (in the most extreme cases) let go. If you're not going to hold umps accountable, then come up with a plan that allows instant replay. All that being said, Ned Yost is a terrible manager and I hope he's in Milwaukee for years to come. From what I understand, the umps have a pretty scrutinous and detailed accountability system. There's just no feasible way for anyone to hear about it, because if an umpire is under fire for making bad calls or has been going through a particularly inaccurate stretch, it would be inspiration for a manager's fuse to be that much shorter in deciding whether or not to jump on the guy, calling into play his reputation as an excuse. It's a pretty similar philosophy to why we don't vote judges to the bench.
  19. I realized that I meant to put DeRo in there near the top, so I replaced Lilly with him. He's been a solid signing this year, and I can't name too many players whose ability to have fun playing the game is more apparent. He was also my favorite part of both walk-off celebrations in the last week of June.
  20. sounds about right to me too I was telling my girlfriend during the game today that if the Cubs won the World Series, I'd be the easiest person ever to shop for for the next 12 months.
  21. Oh definitely. Cubs in contention in September beats any football any time of year, hands down.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if Lou wanted the home fans to see the big guys get one last AB in the last home game.
