  1. Michael Wuertz was a nice side note as well.
  2. True. Cubs win this game if not for an early Lilly implosion (and a couple junk hits along the way). Marlins didn't do crap afterwards. Gonna let a junk inning beat you from a team that's 11 games under .500 at home? Then you deserve to schedule a vacation in October instead of play baseball. I just worry about Marquis and Trax the rest of the series. BTW - Dunn is done for the year. So we'll face Cincy without Griffrey and Dunn. Not a given Trax is goin on Thurs, and its not like Florida is throing Cy Young the next 2 nights In all fairness, it's not like their starter tonight had any business giving up two hits thru 8 innings either.
  3. It's still a poor decision that might have overcome a lackluster effort from the offense. Murton was part of the problem for the first eight innings, not the answer. There was no hot hand for Lou to play, so he took the option that hadn't already come up empty three times tonight. It wasn't the best idea, but trying to manage this team into runs tonight had to feel like bobbing for apples in a tub full of feces.
  4. For the last time, people. The offense lost this game, not the lefty-lefty matchup that resulted in a 400-foot flyout. A team that gets 2-hit by Dontrelle over 8 innings cannot be managed to victory. End of story.
  5. I'm not going to defend the decision at all, but I'd like to point out that this game rests on the offense's inability to catch a flight to Miami.
  6. Please, ARam, come through one more time.
  7. Indeed. All the big 9th inning comebacks this year have started with the leadoff guy reaching. It's been Riot (in the 2 hole) a couple times already, and DeRo is definitely capable of doing the same. Come on, Cubs!!
  8. No more Dontrelle, Cobs. I call Ramirez hitting a HR with none out and Murton batting with the lead.
  9. Wait. Whoa. When? Are you serious man? Don't buy it. Completely unpossible.
  10. If the bullpen holds here, we have the hitters we need to see coming up in the ninth. Chances of a loss are probably holding firm around 90 percent, but a comeback would not be unlike this team.
  11. ???? Cutting the deficit in half and finally bringing the team back into the game really doesn't mean anything. It certainly was no grand slam like Jeter would have hit. 1 extra run per calm eye.
  12. ABOUT FREAKING TIME!! Thank you, Craig.
  13. Let's see if Monroe can do something other than GIDP. How about hitting a lefty, Craig!!
  14. Wuertz a bright spot tonight. Pretty much the only one.
  15. Crazy talk. Nobody does that. (Though DLee WOULD be accustomed to it :x)
  16. Second baserunner of the game that doesn't get doubled off!! It normally doesn't qualify, but compared to the rest of the game, this has got to fall into the fake rally category. Of course the inning would be over before I could finish typing the sentence. F you, Cobs.
  17. I personally blame Enrique Wilson. CT.
  18. Rally Pickler! Cubs score three this inning, three more in the 9th.
  19. Whoever thinks we're winning this game is living in Dreamland. Apparently Lou doesnt . here comes Wuertz. Wuertz is the right move here. Either he succeeds and keeps the damage where it's at, or the flickering light at the end of the tunnel mercifully estinguishes and the offense can quit pressing so much and look forward to tomorrow.
  20. Ron tipping his cap to Dontrelle. :(
  21. I still can't believe that guy has a job. Leave it to the Cards :x
  22. Supposedly before the game, Piniella said he might change Thursday's starter. He's having doubts about starting Trachsel.
  23. The scoreboard is going to inspire them to all swing for 6-run homeruns every AB. Dontrelle could go the distance on 90 pitches.
  24. Sweet Jeebus. consecutive leadoff walks erased with GIDPs. Starts with a 4-pitch walk and gets out of the inning on what, 7 or 8 pitches? Wow. Sorry for trying to tal you guys down from that cliff. This is obscene.
