Do you think Gallen will pitch better than Jamo this year? Possibly, but I'd rather keep Jamo just for the 2026 season. I want to see those guys (Jamo, Shota, Boyd, Happ, Nico, Kelly, Seiya) play together just one more season.
I would say "give me Judge, and you can take Nico and Assad" 😁
Seriously, the Cubs should keep both Nico and Matt. If Padres trade Mason Miller for Shaw + one of Assad/Brown/Wicks/Rea + a non top prospect, I wouldn't mind.
That's good. If they trade Nico, signing Bregman would be a bad move, unless we actually get somebody better in the trade, which isn't going to happen.
Reality: Shaw
I want Bregman the most, but most likely, that's not gonna happen. Shaw has the potential to be almost as good as Bregman in a few years, if he gets the playing time. If the Cubs are really looking hard for a 3B, they just don't want to wait or it's their backup plan, in case Nico leaves.
I just checked Austin's stats in Japan. He played only 403 games in 6 seasons. So, it's probably more like one of the best hitters, when he's healthy. That said, if he doesn't play everyday, maybe, he would be able to avoid injuries.
Exactly. He fits better than the other guys. I don't like Bichette much, because of his defense and base running. Bregman is probably too expensive/long for an older guy.
I was actually thinking the same thing, but it's not very realistic. Bellinger? Bregman? No, I don't think the Cubs get one of those guys. Gallen, Gore or Cabrera? Maybe, but less than likely. I don't know what they will do, but I hope they get someone decent or better. Again, I really hope I'm wrong.
Thank you. I remember when he came over, he threw some 93~94mph, and he had like less than 1.00 ERA for a while. I want the 2024 version of Shota back.😄 BTW, Ohtani just can't hit Shota. I think he's been 0 for 11 or something like that against Shota.
Sadly, I feel the same. If that's the case, our big bat signing would be Austin. Our biggest offseason move would be Maton. I'm still hoping I'm wrong, and they actually do something, though.
