Cabrera pitched for Iowa tonight. 1.2 innings, 2 hits, 3 ER's, 3 K's and 2 walks.

HIs xERA is still pretty low, 2.81, not that much worse than his first 2 seasons. So, he's been a bit unlucky?

I just hope whoever a new SP we get will be at least as good as Shota and Boyd for the Cubs. They've been pitching very well lately.

The Cardinals and the Pirates lost today, and three NL Central teams are below .500 right now.

Is something wrong with Skenes? Against Reds today, he gave up 5 ER's (7 hits and 4 walks) in 4 innings. His ERA is now 3.90. I didn't watch the game, so I don't know what's going on. Hunter Greene isn't as bad, but he has given up 3 runs in 4 innings, and I think he'll pitch the next inning. Looks like Greene was good only against the Cubs, since he came back.😅

Yeah, that would be the best for the Cubs. To me, the worst case is the Dodgers getting Skubal. They will probably sign him after this season, though.

Yes, I think so. TBH, I hate the Dodgers more than the Brewers, so if the Brewers get Skubal, and beat LAD in the playoffs, I'd be OK. I don't want to face the Brewers with Skubal, though.😅

Kelly, Amaya, Mo and Shaw played 1B early in the season. And, they were pretty bad. We had Tyler Austin as a RHH backup 1B, but he injured, when the ST started. I don't even know what's going on with him, but most likely, we'll never see him.

Pete and Busch haven't had any day off. Pete is probably next, but we have no backup for Busch.

Yeah, I feel the same way, so I just checked. The Cubs have 121 (Home) and 102 (Away) wRC+.

I don't know, but I checked Boyd's stats, after he came back from the IL on 6/25. At the same time, I also checked other SPs, during the same period, Shota was our best pitcher over the last 30+ days. ERA: 1.55 xERA: 3.36 FIP: 2.90 xFIP: 3.63 K/9: 7.76 BB/9: 1.86 HR/9: 0.62 For every single stat (listed above), Shota was the #1 on the team.

This is true, but how many pitchers do we need? I think we need two SPs, one TOR and one decent one + Mason Miller?

If there's a chance we can actually re-sign Skubal, it'd be OK. But, I don't think that's gonna happen.

Interesting. I really don't want Skubal for the high price we have to pay for a few months. I'm hoping the Tigers won't trade him, but they lost again today.
