  1. Shota is absolutely unplayable right now. Have to question his preparation and commitment to be consistently getting smashed like he’s pitching BP. Brutal
  2. Man the ESPN guys put up a Ryan Pressly type performance tonight. Just absurdly awful
  3. Encouraging to see Boyd pitch pretty well again. Awesome night for Busch and Shaw is always good to see
  4. They were favoured to win the division on the assumption that it would take high 80s, absolute max 90 wins to do so. Stop being mad at the Cubs for the Brewers going nuclear for that stretch they did, especially because they actually took a few off of them during the 5 game series.
  5. Literally everyone pre season was like “hey the Cubs could win 90 if they get lucky and like 4 different players outperform expectations”, and they will likely hit 90 wins and have clinched a playoff berth already despite losing their #1 starter in April, the superstar trade acquisition being either useless or injured for 3-4 months, the bullpen being a complete disaster for the first month, and the #2 starter turning into a home run derby pitcher after the trade deadline. The projected ceiling for success has already been achieved, despite all of that bad happening. I think Counsell has been fine lol.
  6. Tough series on the weekend but there were decent things displayed. Concerned about Shota being pretty awful lately for sure
  7. Tired? Of what? They don’t do anthing
  8. Man its gotta be exhausting to be incapable of separating who the players are off the field from what they do on it..
  9. Shota cannot be the game one wildcard starter under any circumstances if the game is at Wrigley like we expect. Giving up a bomb before people settle in and the Cubs get to bat will suck all the life out of the park.
  10. I just don’t understand the logic of being a fly ball (home run) pitcher in a league where everyone is trying to hit the ball in the air.
  11. Lets keep the nukes given up tonight to a minimum Shota
  12. I would agree if we were talking about April and May, maybe even June Kyle Tucker, but I really don’t care if post all star Tucker is playing or not.
  13. Idk they look dramatically better since he got IL’d. Don’t know what the numbers are but the watch-ability of the lineup is leagues better without him
  14. Literally every article on this site previewing the season boiled down to “just win like 88-91 games and we get the division”, so the guys doing that has me pretty ecstatic. This season is not diminished by Milwaukee going nuclear for a month or so. Everybody predicted a 90ish win team that was going to win the weakest NL division, so they’d be playing at home in the wildcard round anyways.
  15. I get that the owners are generally cheapskates but there should not be any consideration given to coach/manager salary if you are a serious Big 4 league franchise. Theres no cap/luxury tax, if you print money like the Cubs do, take advantage of that.
  16. Idk man the manager can’t make guys ground into fewer double plays, he can’t stop Tucker pounding ground balls to first base, can’t make Shota stop giving up dingers like its his job, can’t do much with the bullpen in every reliever is getting shelled.
  17. Something about being a bench player for the Cubs turns players into potatoes. Castro is not a big leaguer
  18. Walking PCA with 2 strikes is impressive levels of bad pitching lol
  19. Shota’s not a fly ball pitcher he just gets jacked for dingers
  20. Hitting a baseball is the most difficult athletic feat in pro sports. Unless Porter Hodge is on the mound. Then its incredibly easy.
  21. Losing May-June-July Palencia is a real loss that either can’t be or isn’t likely to be overcome. Unfortunately they lost that player in August, not yesterday afternoon
  22. Turning a 2 run lead into a 3 run deficit is completely unacceptable no matter what happened in the first 8 innings.
