You are a victim of small market franchise propaganda my friend. These teams likely won’t even bother spending real cash to the salary floor, they’ll acquire albatross contracts from big markets teams ala the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL. People expecting a salary cap to magically create NFL level parity year to year fundamentally misunderstand what allows the NFL playoffs to have higher variance year to year. This push for a cap is an attack on the sport from markets that categorically should not have major league teams.

I seem to remember some stuff last year about Marquee struggling a bit or looking to cut back on spending, so it could be that 🤷🏻♂️. I can’t imagine theres a huge market of people with the time to be watching exhibition games in the middle of the work day either.

Anecdotally it seems like a Cactus League thing across all the teams, been watching a couple games daily and will take Grapefruit over Cactus whenever possible because the pitching in Arizona is just abysmal. Every game you throw on its a pitcher tossing batting practice.
