  1. Im willing to give Counsell a lot of slack given injuries have left him with zero major league starters, but putting Maton into a competitive game over literally any other option is just not acceptable or defensible.
  2. “Lets make major investments in our infield defence and then build a pitching staff entirely of dudes who give up nothing but absolute nukes like its their job”
  3. There must’ve been a guy in the crowd they could have put in. Same result at worst.
  4. Valid take. Fully healthy starters is probably a comfortable wildcard like last season, which also had streaky hitting, but running a rotation like this is unsurvivable. Nobody as bad as Shota or Taillon this season will ever be in a playoff rotation.
  5. At this point bringing Maton into winnable games should be a fireable offence for Counsell. Unless the team is up 5+ runs, its pure malpractice to let him on the diamond. Incomprehensibly awful.
  6. Solid night for the offence, ruined by the two Cubs I despise.
  7. Bitchass Maton had to horsefeathers it up or we could be realistically hoping for a tie. What a horrible human.
  8. Phil Maton is a generational fuckup but at least he’s stoic. horsefeathers that guy.
  9. I really, really, really hate fly ball pitchers. Not only have the results with Shota been uneven at best, its just an aesthetically offensive brand of pitching. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. Its not Carson Kelly’s catching that is to blame for the Cubs willingly entering a major league season with the atrocities of Taillon and Imanaga on their roster.
  11. Taillon getting starts is my biggest argument about adding 2 expansion teams. Absolute crime that he is in the major leagues.
  12. Thats cool and all but from the perspective of every other team in baseball, we are the “easy win”. Hard to get super excited about a “soft” stretch that way.
  13. Man if they can just hang around .500 until Steele, Boyd and Cabrera come back…
  14. Watching games that don’t involve the Cubs and it looks like a completely different sport.
  15. Gotta be brutal in the clubhouse. Living with a level of professional failure 99% of people can’t even fathom must be awful.
  16. What could they possibly do? Unless they can pull 4 MLB replacement level or better starters out of thin air tomorrow, theres nothing that can fix this.
  17. So the next two are guaranteed Ls. Hard to see an end coming, 100 losses might actually happen.
  18. No way am i not watching, fully in the horrified fascination phase. Cabrera being bad/getting injured removes any semblance of a stopper. We could be facing a historic stretch of futility.
  19. I was pretty bummed out about missing 6 weeks of games in June and July for work. Heavy emphasis on was.
  20. Damn i read Shota wtf. I got eyesight as bad as our batters i guess
  21. Unfortunately somebody has to pitch, obviously 29 other teams wouldn’t even have a pitcher like him rostered.
