  1. Jed needs to find in zone swing and miss at any cost this winter. So easy to take pitches against the Cubs because they can’t put it in the zone without getting nuked.
  2. Is that luck regression or simply the manifestation of how truly atrocious the pitching staff is.
  3. Have to give it to them, the bullpen guys really came through today. Excellent work.
  4. Mentally preparing for the eldritch horror that is watching the bullpen attempt to throw a baseball.
  5. Its hard to wrap my mind around how bad this team is at pitching. Hitting in MLB is the single hardest thing to do in sports, why do they make it so easy.
  6. 2/3 is wildly optimistic. The pitching staffs aren’t even playing the same sport theres such a massive disparity between them.
  7. Same loser energy that had people hating Brady or Montana or Gretzky. You don’t have to hate the active dynasties.
  8. Hating anybody, let alone a non division rival more than Milwaukee is absolutely insane. The Brewers have been ruining the Cubs since 2018, the Dodgers beat us in a single series a decade ago.
  9. I tend to fall on the side of coaching not really being all that important in pro sports, most of the players are who they are, but if veterans with track records all instantly become turbo asscheeks, and importantly for the Cubs, in the same manner (ie they all are just getting completely crushed for a comical amount of homers, not sucking in different ways), I have to question what the coach is doing. Like Hottovy can’t come up with a tweak that prevents even a single arm on the team from giving up massive power like its the home run derby?
  10. Would it? Nobody has been good, regardless of expectations.
  11. The concerning one for me is that even previously good pitchers became completely awful as soon as they show up. Zef, Cabrera, Gausman (has had half his starts go well) all went from being good to being home run pitchers instantly after becoming Cubs.
  12. I miss watching professional pitching. This is morally wrong.
  13. Just gotta pray the Cubs can get some extreme luck and manage to win 5-6 games and then hope the Padres or D-Backs lose as many as possible. An absolute miracle to expect more than 5 wins the rest of the year.
  14. Do those 5 1/2 months matter as much as what is happening now? I don’t think so
  15. Does that math take into account that the team will have to navigate not having a single reliable inning out of the bullpen the rest of the season?
  16. That interview was really upsetting to read. How a guy like him can have the gall to list the hitters under his list of “areas that need to be better”, is baffling. Like dude, you are a major component of the worst pitching staff in baseball by a dramatic margin, own that and either don’t say anything or admit that the pitching alone is a catastrophic failure by every metric and is letting down the position players. That was gross.
  17. Its says a lot about the professionalism and character of the position players that they continue to play their absolute guts out making fantastic plays despite knowing it will inevitably be erased by a reliever who doesn’t belong in affiliated, let alone major league, baseball.
  18. Is 7-9 realistic with the current roster? Even 5-11 seems like wishful thinking now.
