  1. Good analysis, but chances are, only two will be good MLB players, and perhaps one of them a big star. Jed Hoyer can't know which ones those are.
  2. A defender shouldn't be allowed an out by knocking a player off the base, in any way. Period. That includes doing it by the tag, itself.
  3. I've got a bookmark folder of Cubs pundit sites. I just demoted six of them for their hype as I'm prone to see it, in favor of overspending, including the Cubs' future, for the sake of "big moves." North Side Baseball rises to the top, for being objective, analytical, sensibly hopeful, and not of the gripey mood of the classic Chicago sports call-in show "fan." Good going!
  4. LIKE: Long range view for excellence over the years. Keeping sports inflation down Trying-out and keeping the best prospects DISLIKE: Pundits trying to make money by pushing the teams they haunt to overpay and toss the future away for immediate jazz. Throwing Cam Smith away for one season of Kyle Tucker. Go Ricketts, Go Ricketts-disciplined Hoyer. Go Cubs Go. PS: God bless you, Jason, you could have edited your article down by about 40% to avoid redundancy.
  5. Thank you for the really nice reporting. But seriously, what's wrong with Luke Little and Riley Martin, still with Iowa? BTW, God bless you in your new employment, Mr. Pressley.
  6. Ace minor leaguers become major league stars. Kyle Tucker becomes another team's player next season. Now Hoyer has his contract. Maybe he'll think about continuing success rather than making the Cubs an almost-one-hit-wonder.
  7. The concern I originally expressed is trading future success for present almost success.
  8. I think Cam Smith will more likely be a Hall of Famer than these Cubs go the World Series and then Kyle Tucker is a Cub in 2026.
  9. Loyal Cub fan since about 1967.. Trading Dylan Cease was a travesty. Trading Cam Smith was like trading Lou Brock. If they trade Jaxon Wiggins I may walk away and root for the Brewers and Twins.
  10. Why not bring up Jaxon Wiggins and see what he does? And why in the world is Lue Little in AAA? Phil Bickford? What are they waiting for?
  11. Tonight makes the picture clear. Never mind 3B. Focus on SP. Very cool idea, Siroka. If the Cubs could be sure they wouldn't be hit by more injuries, though, I'd say just hold and keep your prospects.
  12. I don't have much confidence in Jed Hoyer's decisions of this sort Keep the guys you have including prospects and pick up another foreign pitcher next offseason, Jed. And try not to think of Lou Brock every time you see Cam Smith.
  13. Heading toward the MLB trade deadline, what is the Cubs' biggest need? Maybe exactly a few of those waiting for sweet corn with the Iowa Cubs.
  14. Very nice, thank you. So much that fans miss. (Now, I'll have to go read the other one ;-).
