  1. Strangely enough, the Cubs are by far more important to me than the Bulls. But even more strangely, I've never had a major connection to Sandberg or Grace, and now even Prior. I was always a Dawson, Sosa, Dunston, and now Zambrano and Patterson kinda guy. Guess I have a thing for tools like Hendry. Or maybe I just hate white guys. Outside of the hating white guys thing, I am completely the same way. That combined with the fact that I loved the Bulls growing up lead to choose Pip.
  2. I'm really beginning to seriously doubt the effectiveness of the Cubs minor leauge development and coaching staffs.
  3. No way. He did well in like low A ball. He's what, 25 or 26? Why waste a roster spot? He's probably going to get picked up by a team that can afford a project on their roster. Avg Obp Slg Ops .243 .295 .515 810 That was in AA over a 34-game span. If I remember correctly, he really struggled at first, got hurt, and when he came back he played really well. Yes, he's 26. But you really can't hold that against him... because it's not like he's been focusing on hitting and has a 6 year advantage on his peers. I just don't want him to be claimed and then hear that he's decided to pitch again. 34 games isn't a big enough sample size to tell.
  4. I think that is a pretty realistic view of what will go down.
  5. 2B Brian Roberts 3B Alex Rodriguez LF Albert Pujols RF Vladimir Gurrero 1B Derrek Lee SS Miguel Tejada CF Andruw Jones C Joe Mauer SP1 Johan Santana SP2 Roger Clemens SP3 Carlos Zambrano SP4 Dontrelle Willis SP5 Jake Peavy Closer = Eric Gagne Set-up = Brad Lidge
  6. Another test for the Bears. This game should be really interesting as the Steelers are the same style team but have a slightly worse defense and running game but a superior passing game. Look for an old school game in Pittsburgh.
  7. 87 players had an ISOD over .100 (with at least 200 PAs) in 05. That's a pretty decent sized group. 167 players were at (or above) Walker's career average of .081. 207 people with over 200 PAs had a higher BB/PA than Walker. I like Walker as much as anyone and want him on this team badly next year, but he's not the great leadoff hitter we all think he is. Especially, when he's as like to post a .330's OBP as he is one in the .350's. Was Juan Pierre among them? I didn't look at his stats but I am almost positive that he wasn't. Pierre has a pretty bad walk rate.
  8. Apparently they needed to fill the bad boy persona they lost last year when they traded Farnsworth.
  9. This WAS a salary dump for the Rangers. Soriano is going to make something like 10 million if I've read correctly. And yet the Rangers still got, by FAR, the better of the deal. that's what I'm saying. the Nats took a huge chunk of salary, gave up a player better than the one they got, and tossed in a potentially very good player and PTBNL. it just doesn't make sense. is ML just trying to devalue the Nats to the point where someone will actually buy them? That would be a logical reason for picking Bowden as their GM. :D
  10. If I were the Rangers, I would have been happy with Wilkerson for Soriano straight up.
  11. So that means that the Brewers basically got Jose Capellan and Alec Zumwalt for Wes Obermueller. Not a bad deal IMO.
  12. OHMY GAWD, how could they trade Dewon Brazelton?? He was Tampa's #1 prospect, you can't trade a guy like that!! He was at the top of BA's prospect list, that is the bible, they're never wrong. Tampa is stupid and overpaid. if youre going to be insane, at least be insane in one thread, instead of letting this garbage spill over into other places it doesnt belong. I see that sarcasm escapes you. Don't get eveyone upset now.....this is no place to be funny..... More like this is no place to be unfunny.
  13. Guess the Braves have a lot of faith in McCann.
  14. These comments pissed me off and I think they will have a similar effect on most of you. From a Phil Rodgers article in the Tribune today: Link Ok, first of all, what the heck is he thinking. These questions are simple as they come and you mess them up. It is almost like you want a ticket out of Chicago, not that I would have a problem with that. Secondly, how about this idea Dusty, why don't you work on the fundamental problems with the players. You know, do some coaching perhaps? God forbid you actually try to improve their performance on the field. I just don't understand how a person can take absolutely no responsibility for what happens on the field when things go wrong, yet throw themselves into the spotlight when things happen to go right.
  15. I just voted for him. Not seeing too many Urlacher is overrated remarks this season. Hopefully the injuries and Paris Hilton affairs are gone forever. And women claiming they had his baby.
  16. Could they find an uglier jersey? Yikes.
  17. You should really put a donate link at the top of the forum or something like that. I never go to the front page so I assume others don't as well.
  18. Vasher better make the Pro Bowl.
  19. No it won't... Jeter gets 19 or so mil a year.
  20. Wow you gave up on a year that hasn't even started a long time ago? You must be a sad puppy! No, I just have faith in the ineptitude of the Cubs front office and managerial staff.
