  1. I would take Johan Santana and Jake Peavy ahead of him. Zambrano would be right there also. I'm not sure I can find a hitter that I would trade straight up and be happy with it, especially long term. edit: hmm..I would do Pujols for Cabrera.
  2. Is there a choice of neither? Both have been horrible lately...
  3. I would start all three of then over DeShaun...
  4. You're kidding, right? Just in case you misinterpreted the above, it's suppose to be collectively not separately. And that's not just offense. I'm talking offense, defense, speed, and overall intagibles. In particular Cedeno. The dimension he were to add is much more important to THIS team than what Cabrera would. REALLY? What demension is that? He isn't particularly fast and his offense is nowhere near Cabreras. It's a joke to even compare the two. You guys are misinterpreting what I'm saying. Although I stated Cedeno + Murton > than Cabrera its not just based on the stats or on the numbers, rather the overall importance they'd have on THIS team. What I'm saying is, Cedeno and Murton fulfill a greater overall need than does Cabrera. Ask yourselves, what were the greatest deficiencies (offesively) of this team last year? It sure as hell wasn't power, rather it was a lack of speed, OBP, lead off presence, and the abilitly to perform situational contact. Although Cabrera fulfills the first need, he certainly doesn't fulfill the latter. More importantly, his impact on this lineup would be far less than it is in Florida. There he and Delgado were THE ONLY consistent power sources. However this lineup already has a bonafide 3 and 4 hitter, while Barrett (if Dusty would quit misusing him in the 8th) would be a good 5 or 6 hitter. Even though this lineup should be less powerful than last years, it should be more than suffucient, especially if we find a capable RFer. Again its not that I don't think Cabrera COULDN't work in our lineup, rather he just doesn't provide a necessital upgrade to constiute giving away two young players that do. In the end I feel this team needed to add more speed, OBP, guys fundamentally sound, and a little bit of youth. Although Cedeno and Murton are both relative unprovens, I feel they give this team its BEST chance at providing that (while allowing for payroll flexibilit). And if you think this team truly needs another big bopper just look at the WS champs over the last several years. Although the Red Sox had a pretty powerful lineup, the rest one because they had a properly constructed lineup. They had speed and OBP at the top, capable mid order sluggers, and were able to do the fundamentals that give you a run or two. Unfortunately, for the last several years, this team has been inept in 2 of these 3 categories. Maybe their not the PERFECT solutions, but I think they're a start. I'm also willing to bet a lot of you underestimate the impact these 2 will have on THIS TEAM. For all our sakes I hope I'm right. What's the problem with having OBP and power? Miguel's OBP last year was .385. That's pretty good to me. I would rather have Cabrera and a replacement level player than Murton and Cedeno.
  5. I really don't think that Giles was an option at all. It seemed like almost everyone knew he was going back to the Padres cause he didn't get barely any offers.
  6. And he is probably in the top 10 players in the majors in terms of trade value.
  7. He put up a .950 OPS last year while playing half of his games in an extreme pitcher's park. He put up a 1.016 OPS on the road. Oh yeah, he's only 22 years old. Fielding and baserunning may take away a little bit of his value, but don't kid yourself he would cost a ton to acquire.
  8. Conor, Carlos, Chad, Chris (the names of the D'Backs top Of prospects). I'll take Jackson please. I'll take Quentin.
  9. I am fine with giving him 20 mil for this year. It's not like we are spending it on anything else.
  10. The Bears better run the ball like the Steelers did on us last week. The most glaring weakness of this team is their run defense and has been all year long. If the Bears want to win this game they need to keep the ball out of Orton's hands. Let those high paid linemen earn their keep and pound that defense.
  11. Not at all. The top 3 teams in the league were pretty dominant all year long. That's what makes it even more bizarre. Even after the losses this last week, we have 2 less than everyone else.
  12. Hopefully I don't lose 122-42 in this playoff as well. I just realized that there was a 8 team playoff in my money league and the 5, 6, 7, and 8 teams all won in the first round.
  13. We already have Neifi, why would we want Spivey?
  14. GM by committee!
  15. In Texas it should be even greater than before. Location. Hooray! \:D/
  16. Thread title change? Pierre gone after this year? KingKonan gone after this post? Am I missing something? Also, I don't want Pie leading off. That is not a role that he should have to fill during his career. He has shown throughout his minor league career that he is going to have a high walk rate. Granted, he can change that but it isn't very likely. If they aren't going to sign Pierre to an extension, I really don't understand the trade...
  17. I don't know about anybody else, but I am going to miss the Padilla Flotilla.
  18. This was reported on ESPNews a couple of minutes ago. They didn't announce any contract details.
  19. Named Nick Markakis. Him and Chris Ray plz.
  20. I wouldn't trade Carlos unless we got another player with Tejada.
  21. ESPN.com article http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2256260
  22. Personally, I think it would be better if he got traded to San Francisco. But that's just me.
  23. If he really wants to get out of Baltimore, I am sure the Cubs could get him to waive that ability. Let's face it, no team is going to touch him if he doesn't.
