  1. When are they going to pass out that book on Matt Murton that Dusty was talking about so much last year?
  2. One thing I forgot is that the reason that Neifi is starting over Hairston is because, according to Dusty, Jerry was one or two for tenty against Suppan last year.
  3. ESPN 1000 was reporting earlier today that Dusty announced that Neifi is starting tomorrow at 2nd base. He said that it came down to a decision between Jerry Hairston and him. Dusty said the reason Walker isn't starting is that wants better defense on the field since Maddux is pitching. Can anyone explain this to me? I am dumbfounded.
  4. The Brewers are going to have a pretty solid team this year...
  5. I thought I heard something about him retiring because his wife had cancer. I might be thinking of someone else though.
  6. I don't think it should be overlooked that we gave up our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks for Eyre, Howry, and Jones. Hooray! Also, Ohman > Rusch
  7. Self destruct and put up a sub-3 era. Exactly. Maybe some people aren't very emotional or competitive but there is nothing wrong or unhealthy about how Zambrano pitches, and furthermore, if any of the other players on our team have a problem with it and their quality of play is directly effected by it, I'd like to seem them traded as soon as possible, regardless of who it is, Prior, Lee, Ramirez, etc. This is Carlos Zambrano's team and I love the fact that he plays with such passion on the mound, at bat and on the basepaths. The best part about it is that no matter what Z does or says, he backs it up every single time with results. Clemens has thrown sharp broken bats at other players on the field, intentionally hit batter upon batter and celebrated his success on the field just like Z does, except it just so happens that almost all of that stuff happened when Clemens was in the AL, so he's not much of a man. Clemens is constantly praised, Z is constantly criticized. That's cause Clemens was a Yankee and Z hasn't been bought out yet.
  8. Self destruct and put up a sub-3 era.
  9. When/where was this? BA i meant where at like on the BA website, in what issue of the magazine, etc. :D In the latest magazine. It was part of the major league preview that hasn't been posted on the site yet.
  10. I would rather have Maddux as a pitching coach than as a starter....
  11. BA predicted we would finish 4th in the central (top 4 was Cards, Brewers, Astros, Cubs) and called us baseball's most dysfunctional team. I hate to agree with that but I do...
  12. Yay, is it going to be broadcast over the internet?
  13. Don't be so mean to Raw. :P On the subject of the thread, just look at BA's list from last year. Leicester and Dubois aren't with us anymore and we got little value for them, Dopirak, Harvey, Petrick, Pinto, and Johnson saw their value and promise go down due to poor performance and/or injuries, and you can say that Marshall and Guzman did as well. Pie was really the only prospect in our top 10 last year to maintain or increase his value.
  14. That's because he got a bigger signing bonus with Texas and could afford to do both. I don't think Colleges can give bonuses and such to students/players. Someone should tell that to Ohio State.
  15. It would be interesting to look at a list from the Braves org. I bet it would be very, very long.
  16. Well, on the plus side, he could have stood to lose some weight. Not like this, granted, but hey. I was going to make the same comment :(
  17. I am pretty sure that they invite everyone that is eligible for and has entered the draft.
  18. Just so you know, a lot of tackles for a corner isn't a good thing.
  19. Ridiculous even!
  20. And I stand by what I said about Felix going down as one of the best of all time if he stays healthy. He is that good.
  21. I'm not opposed to the award, I am opposed to the reasons that pitchers win it. When you determine how good of a season a pitcher has, wins would not be close to the top of my list. Wins are a TEAM stat. It is based on how well the rest of the team plays as well as the individual. There is no reason that an award given to the best PLAYER should be based on how well the team does. There are plenty of other stats like ERA, WHIP, K/9, BB/9, ect that do a much better job of showing how well a pitcher performs. Those stats should be used when determining who wins the Cy Young. Btw, first time I have had a thread split starting with my post. :)
  22. Yeah, No LaTroy Hawkins for a whole season!!!! ugh..if only we could get ride of the person that put him in the situtation he was in.
  23. umm...right...
  24. Because this is the 2nd time I've been jumped on for not meeting the high standards of some of the "better" posters. There's no excuse for treating someone like that. Oh, but I guess since these are only words on a computer screen, that gives people a right to use sarcasm, and yes, belittle others. Where was the belittling? He corrected your error. Go back to his first response. "Good Grief" I don't mind being corrected. If I make a mistake, please correct, and I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. But "rolling" one's eyes by making a statment such as "good grief" is a phrase of belittlement. If you can't see that, then I'm wasting my time. I think you need to step back and look at the situation to see that you're going overboard because of two words that aren't extremely inflammatory. The right two words can be. I'm sure I can come up with a bunch of combos that would piss of plenty of people. :D
  25. Honestly, I was never more embarressed to be a Cubs fan than that moment. Ditto. I'm not sure what to say in response to people who honestly think that booing Sammy freaking Sosa was less embarrassing than booing LaTroy Hawkins who caused us so much misery in just over one season. Booing is different from the whole stadium chanting "Hawkins sucks!" Maybe they should have been chanting Dusty sucks since he is the one that kept putting LaTroy in a situation where he had failed multiple times in the past. Understood...although you can't expect all Cubs fans to realize that anymore than you could expect any other fanbase to generally know that much. All most Cubs fans saw was a closer who was bad, they didn't see that Dusty should've gone a different route. Oh please, I am sure a large percentage of the fans that were booing him knew his history of being a closer. I'm sure you knew that when you were applauding their actions.
