  1. Done deal according to WFAN. Two prospects = Johnson back to AZ.
  2. BigBadB - Question, Would you have rather signed Z to Soriano money and went with an outfield of Murton, JJones and someone like Dellucci?
  3. Perhaps a bit presumptuous? Not sure how you can point a finger at Hendry for something that has yet to happen. Did you miss the words "if" and "might"? I understand that they are small words, so maybe your brain just didn't register them. comments deleted ... I'll keep them to myself! Sorry, your post just made no sense. He said "if a happens, then b", then you chided him for being presumptuous, when he had already stated that he would hold that opinion until it actually happened. Then it looks like I was being a bit presumptuous. Let's hope we never have to worry about Z walking and Hendry actually signs the man to a multi-year contract. Nonetheless, Go Cubs!

  6. Just because that's the average market price doesn't make it a good idea. The idea is to go cheap at certain spots by using young guys so that you can spend the extra cash on real difference makers. Suppan is not likely to be one of those. Yep, and I never said it was a good idea. you cant think this is a bad signing for the brewers, statistically he cannot be that much better/worse than the other pitchers signed in this price range this season. I know we all love statistical analysis, but when pitching is so thin, you cant argue with a guy who consistently pitches around 200 innings and wins more than he loses This pretty much sums it up....
  7. Helton will be 1 of the 3 in the "BIG" name trade. Cubs, will not be involved. (this is only my opinion)
  8. Because he's a solid, durable pitcher. And he's getting the same deal as Lilly, when he's a way better pitcher than Lilly. Please, "way better" ... nice pitcher, but not worthy of "way better"
  9. You may be right, and that stat you quoted about 1st inning OPS is interesting. I'm too lazy to look this up, but does anyone know how his walks in the first compare to other innings. The mentality of a closer has to be different. To me, it would be a little easier (pressure wise) starting a game, rather than coming in the 9th with the game on the line. One walk could unravel a pitcher if he is not mentally tough. Ken P.S. I know he's coming back as a reliever, but I'm not sure if I have heard the words Wood and closer coming from managment. I thought Lou hinted at it... not sure, and can't seem to find an article to justify it. Hendry mentioned he could throw 4-5 days per week. I will take 4 saves per week from Kerry!
  10. Well yeah, he might be worth it if he were able to repeat last year. But more likely he's going to revert to Michael Barrett levels of production, and paying him 9 figures will be a bad idea. Is it you that continues to compare most signings with Michael Barrett, if so...why the obsession of MB?
  11. Nope, sorry bro! Plus it appears the Crew will tender him and look to trade him later this month.
  12. Thanks for the 3rd grade comment! Thanks for not getting a joke. A previous post already said he would be okay. Classy bro, classy! Someone in the hospital is no joke! It is as simple as that!
  13. Thanks for the 3rd grade comment!
  14. Not a fan if he is anything more than a bench option.
  15. Ooooh, some *very* interesting little tid-bits in that one. Among other things. Ted Lilly thinks he wants to reverse the curse, huh? I think he's waiting for that Yankees offer, because after all, NY would be a preferrable destination to Chicago unless the money is more here. Watch out all you Dunn fans. Maybe he is the guy Hendry wants  Doubt it, will either be Floyd or Lofton...
  16. I agree! I highly, highly doubt they trade Hall.
  17. Last I heard Cirillo as either signing with the Brewers or possibly retiring. That being said, I would like him as a bench option!
  18. Perhaps Schmidt really does want to stay on the west coast and pitch for Seattle or even the Dodgers. And if Zito is intent on going east or maybe Texas, Lilly is our next best option, no?
  19. Cause "not that good of a player" >>>>>>> Izturis you forgot one > Izturis would be fine if you could hide him in the 8th slot, but the Cubs don't have that luxury. Not that I disagree, however Bruce Miles mentioned (on this board) the other day that he believes Izturis will stay and hit 8th. Food for thought!
