You are assuming that we have had high quality young position players, which we have not. I blame the Cub organization for Patterson's struggles because they rushed him. But I will give Baker credit for sticking with Patterson even when many on here thought he should have been benched, and he's pretty much stuck with Cedeno. I think too many of us read one or two publications that rate our players, and we automatically assume they are can't miss players. Four or five years ago, many of us swore that guys like Patterson, Jackson, Kelton, Dubois, Montanez would be playing in Wrigley right now. I think we need to rededicate ourselves to scouting, both domestic and international. The way I see it, a lot of our prospects seem to be just athletes and not guys who really know how to play the game. Don't worry, Dal.....the lousy coaching staff and system at the National League Chicago club would do their best to screw up any potential these players exhibited. Heck! Let's give these losers an extension so they can screw up another generation of Cubs players! Let's keep this Business As (Loser) Usual tradition going for another fifty years!

The answer is simple. First, you get rid of the cancer that is Dusty and his staff, which has done nothing but tear down this team and it's players for years now. You get rid of his philosophies and coaching styles. The excuses stop, the attitude changes and you basically just clean-up the huge mess he made. 2nd, you stop wasting time with pieces of trash like Rusch and Neifi consstantly being used because they are the manager's pets. 3rd, you reliever the strain on overworked arms because the manager is so desperate to win today that he'll risk the health of any pitcher he has at his disposal. 4th, you start evaluating for next year, something that cannot be done with Dusty, because he is stuck in the past and refuses to think about next year. When you decide to make a change (which the Cubs should have done a long time ago), you make that change immediately, so the lame duck authority figure cannot do anymore damage and you can start fresh.

I don't get the play the kids talk. Who do we have that's not playing who should be playing? I'm all for playing kids if and when they're ready and if they're good. I disagree with you. And, my take on the interview was totally opposite. As Canseco pointed out, Palmeiro was the "Latino" response to Canseco's allegations. Palmeiro was considered "squeaky clean" by the so-call "commissioner" and his stooges.
