  1. Longtime assistant Bill Smith will take over. Surprising with the new stadium on it's way. No one seems to have seen it coming and speculation is all over the place. http://www.startribune.com/twins/story/1420419.html
  2. Can't tell you how funny it is that the media outlet that despises Notre Dame the most is being called out for talking about them too much. NARF ESPN despises Notre Dame? That's funny, because I could've sworn that they spent more time talking about ND during Saturday's game than they did about spent talking about their opponent, which happened to be much better, and also relevant in a major conference race, if not the national championship picture. But in any case, those who watched Saturday's game and have a sense of humor should find the link above to be funny. They talked about us because that's what they think people want to hear. Apart from Jimmy, you'll notice not much of it was complimentary (nor should it have been). I put up with ND getting a ton of attention because it means I get to see most all their games on TV, but that doesn't mean I like it. How can you completely miss the point? JCSPN as in Jimmy Classen. The whole page was centered around Claussen. That is well-deserved when they compared his debut to LeBron, Sidney Crosby and God knows who else. When I saw the tease about that coming after the commercial, I turned away immediately. Saying they despise Notre Dame is absurd. They've slurped on Charlie since he took over. They slurped on Brady to no end. They've done features on Zbikowski. They get 20 times more coverage than they merit and hardly any of it is with a negative slant. The only negative they get is from Mark May and maybe Corso. Holtz evens that out.
  3. For all of the sarcastic remarks there are about Floyd crushing foul balls, when he's swinging the bat well, he hits the ball outrageously hard.
  4. Lost in all of this is the fact that Demp didn't pitch that poorly today. He gave up a hard-hit single to Martin. He then got the desired result (a ground ball) to the next batter and it was inches away from being a double play. He didn't throw a bad pitch to Ethier and on a normal day that's a routine flyout. He came in and threw strikes and wasn't even missing his spots by that much. A little bit of bad luck, bad conditions and some good hitting. It happens. He's 25/28. If Marmol had 28 save opportunities he probably would have blown 2-3 by now also.
  5. NO! WE NEED MARMOL! 25/28 ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. MARMOL WOULD NEVER, EVER BLOW A SAVE!
  6. The Brewers' next ten games are against the Pirates and Reds. This season is OVER. I know. We still have to play the Padres, Mets, Phillies, D'Backs... Nevermind. We play the Pirates and Reds too.
  7. Yep, he's done a good job this year. Now it's up to his teammates to pick him up and score some runs in the 9th. Dempster - ERA after today 3.5+. SOs/IPs = 48/55 Marmol ERA 1.45. 77/56 Saves are misleading. Dempster gets hit hard and doesn't strike out enough guys to be a good closer which is why he is constantly in trouble even when he does get lucky saves. Lucky saves? Is this a stat? Yes, 25 saves with a 3.5 ERA. Look at his ERA in save situations. He hasn't been lucky, he's been good in that spot. He's been great lately and he didn't pitch badly today. It isn't that hard to realize.
  8. I would hardly consider Loney and Ethier to be "skid marks". they are compared to the guys the Cubs have. No they aren't. Especially Loney. Just because they're young and you don't know who they are, doesn't mean they aren't good. It just means you should pay more attention. Meanwhile, our youngsters either can't hit, can't show up for the games on time, or if they can hit, languish on the bench behind a guy who can't hit and can't throw anyone out. And that has nothing to do with you calling Loney a "skid mark" when he clearly isn't. Yeah, you're right. I'd sure choose him over Derrek Lee. He's fantastic. Good analysis. If he isn't better than Derrek Lee, he's a skid mark. That makes sense.

  10. Its amazing it doesnt happen for us huh. That has nothing to do with the fact that Demp didn't pitch poorly.

  12. post of the day. The Dodgers team we're playing is absolute crap. They are? They're better than everyone in the Central. Oh and if you think Loney is bad, you have no clue. Then again that shouldn't surprise me.
  13. Enough with the overreactions, Dempster has pitched great. He got the desired result on the 2nd batter, it was a matter of inches from being a double play ball. Then he gave up a fly ball that doesn't get out unless the wind is howling out. It happens, but he hasn't pitched terribly.
  14. I guess I'm kind of surprised that there are 12 shortstop's with a .345+ OBP. I would have assumed that Theriot ranked a little higher in OBP. I really like Theriot. He's smart, has a good approach at the plate, good fundamentals, good baserunning, can handle the bat pretty well in the 2 hole and just always seems to play smart. All of that is quite opposite from our other SS who probably has a higher ceiling. Basically I agree with Truffle. If we have a chance to upgrade substantially, we should. If it's marginal, maybe you just save that money and go with Theriot while having Cedeno as a fallback option. It's an interesting offseason. The rotation and bullpen are set for the most part. We have four positions to upgrade offensively, but we have some decent young and cheap options at all four positions.
  15. I hope Cedeno goes 2-3 with a HR and a walk each day and starts a lot more down the stretch. Same here. I just don't know if I trust Ronny to have a solid approach and even out-produce Theriot this year. Interesting lineup, glad to see Lou got fed up and decided to mix it up. This is what I was hoping for/expecting in the outfield when we acquired Monroe. Hopefully Monroe plays well enough in CF to force a platoon out there.
  16. Just stop. Please. It's beyond annoying.
  17. Because they knew you would complain about everything if he did had we kept him. You know, like you do now with every other player on the roster.
  18. But you said the game was already over?
  19. That was a great September, Prior and Wood were fantastic. sigh. Yeah they really were. Z was pretty great too if memory serves. I don't think he was in September, he started wearing down. Of course Estes gave us the game of his life in Cincy.
  20. Is this kind of thing that you post constantly an act? It has to be.
