  1. Well at least it was closer this year. With Northwestern winning it will end up 6-5. Illinois and Iowa both had a chance to win on their last possession. Either one of them would have done it, although the ACC lost a couple close games also.
  2. WTF Penn State? With 30 seconds left they have a breakaway, uncontested dunk but pulled it out to kill 5 seconds. He then misses the front of a one and one. Then at the end they inbound the ball to Cornley who is a 56% free throw shooter. He misses both and GT had a chance to win with a 3.
  3. Gah Michigan had chances. Missed two layups on one possession in the final minute. Between Iowa, Illinois and Michigan, this coulda been the year. Now we need a miracle from MSU and Northwestern to get FSU.
  4. My bad. I was positive that during the Iowa game they flashed the score as 60-48 Illinois.
  5. clemson is better. But at home I had it as one of our wins. but if you watched the game it was a miracle it was so close. i'm not terribly disappointed, the better team obviously won but we had a great shot to win and pissed it away like a bunch of idiots. Was watching Iowa, didn't see any of it. Only saw that you were up 12.
  6. clemson is better. But at home I had it as one of our wins.
  7. ARE YOU [expletive] SERIOUS MCCAMEY?
  8. Thanks Illinois, this was supposed to be one of our wins.
  9. Damn. Despite the awful defensive rebounding in the first half, the 6 minute drought in the second half and giving them 2 free throws every trip for about 5 minutes in the second half, we still had a shot. 2 empty possessions in the last minute and a half when we were down by 1 and an empty trip on the last possession down by 2.
  10. I just started watching, is it good defense or awful offense? I imagine it's the second option considering both teams aren't that good. Slow paced game. We started at least 0-6 from the field. We were playing very good defense for a long stretch but then they started beating us up inside. They aren't shooting well but are getting 2 shots every possession.
  11. Iowa is getting absolutely mauled inside. I think we've given up 12-13 offensive rebounds in the first half. They send at least 4 to the glass every shot. At some point we need to get it and beat them in transition. Plus it seems like 80% of their points are coming in the paint. Still only down 3 at the half because we're shooting well.
  12. "I am Purple Jesus."
  13. Which the Vikings just essentially clinched. Well we'll also know more by Tuesday. If the Williams Wall is suspended we may only win 8. And as bad as the Lions were on Thanksgiving, I keep having this nightmare that Daunte has a resurgent game and they ruin the bizarro-perfect season.
  14. Good win for the Vikings. Wouldn't be surprised if both teams end with 9 wins and it comes down to tiebreakers.
  15. Got manhandled against West Virginia but led for 35 minutes of the Kansas State game and held off a late rally to win at the buzzer. Big win for a young team. Think we've got a shot against BC but not expecting a win. Come on Big 10, can we finally do it?
  16. I guess Iowa added Ball State to the schedule in 2010. Today kinda stinks. I remember the 90's when the Friday after Thanksgiving was awesome with Texas/A&M and Nebraska/Colorado. At least one of them was usually a good or important game.
  17. No they haven't. They may act like they knew exactly what would happen after the fact, but every single one of the ones I've heard talk about this has sounded extremely confused why this is taking so long. It's an odd story that should not be dragging on this long. When the appeals were set for last week, everything I read said that no suspensions would be handed down before the Jaguars (last week) or Bears games.
  18. Hub Arkush is a buffoon. Their hearing was last Thursday. Every NFL "insider" was saying going into it that no one would be suspended before Week 14 because it's a unique case. I mean every Glazer, Mortenson, Clayton, King was saying this last week. It shouldn't be a surprise. Hub is just an idiot. Did he ask why the 3 players from the Saints haven't been suspended yet? Their appeal hearing was before the Williams'. It sounds like there's a decent chance they may all be let off the hook because there were some major discrepancies. The hearing lasted 12 hours and they had multiple doctors and trainers testify. The banned substance wasn't included as an ingredients and wasn't on the hotline that players are supposed to consult with. How is he a buffoon for saying it has been unusually long? It has been long. It's been far too long. I just think he's a buffoon in general. In this case I just don't understand the surprise. Every "insider" said this is exactly what would happen. The appeals would be last week and if there were suspensions handed out they wouldn't be until after Week 13. The case is unique because the actual manufacturer said they were unaware bumentanide was in the Star Caps. They weren't listed. They weren't flagged by the hotline. There are 5 players from 2 teams involved. For all of these reasons it shouldn't be a surprise that it hasn't followed standard timetables. My bigger problem was all of the lag time they had between stuff being leaked and when they actual held the appeals. But the time between the hearing and a ruling is understandable.

  20. If you get pressure on Gus he'll stink. You didn't get much pressure on him in Chicago although he still did make a few terrible mistakes. Our defense is very solid and the front four has continued to get better. The biggest spot to exploit is the middle of the field. Napoleon Harris is a major downgrade from E.J. Henderson and has really struggled in the passing game. Greenway and Leber are having great years as is Winfield. It's also helped getting Madieu Williams back. Special teams have been awful and cost us the first Bears game. Thankfully Hester looks pedestrian this year. If they lose they're probably toast. Childress may be coaching for his job. Win and they're in good shape. The result of the Williams Wall's appeal will obviously be huge.
  21. Iowa won by 34 tonight against a bad Southeast Missouri State team to get to 5-0. They're playing cupcakes but in 4 of the 5 games they've had an offensive efficiency better than they did in any game last year. Now things get started. In Las Vegas to play West Virginia on Friday night and then Kentucky/Kansas State on Saturday. At Boston College Tuesday. Win at least one.
  22. I guess the best thing I could say about that game is this team is learning. Wow they really struggle against the press some times and they were playing a 1-1-3 zone that was causing problems. Played tentative and passive against it for the most part and were thinking too much. Oakland is a pretty decent squad though and I'll take it. Gatens had his worst game thus far but other than him and the turnovers they did some good things. We shot 55% from the field and 40% from 3. We had 19 effing assists on 22 field goals. Tate had 11 and 13. Peterson had 8 points, 9 assists and 1 turnover. Tucker had 19 on 7-12 and 5-10 from 3. Our offense has been extremely efficient thus far, even though they've had too many turnovers in two of the games. We already have 2 games with a higher efficiency rating than we had all of last year and all 4 games would have been top 10 last year.
  23. Curtis Enis did it in 97 Then why did they keep showing the split screens of Greene and Darnell Autry that showed the 8 games with 100+ yards? I was watching with a loud group so I couldn't hear everything they were saying but I thought that's what they were getting at.
  24. I knew Iowa was a better team than Minnesota but was a little worried about last night. 55-0 was just ridiculous. Shonn Greene the first Big Ten back since Autry in '95 to have 100 yards in all Big Ten games and broke Iowa's single season record. 100 yards in all 12 games is just nuts. 278 carries for 1,729 yards, a 6.2 average for the year and 17 touchdowns. I just really hope he gets an invite to New York. He has no chance at winning but he's the best running back in the country hands down and should be there. The only negative yesterday was Arizona blowing that game with OSU. It would have guaranteed a New Year's bowl. Need Oregon to beat them next week now. Other than that, Iowa State fell to 0-8 in Big 12, the Zooker capped a losing season, Wisky embarrassed themselves, and now we get to listen to ND fans whine about how they need a new coach again. Oh I wish we had any of Andy's hundreds of posts on Charlie following his hiring and first year or two.
