The ability to take a walk should be the job of every position on the team, even if the person doesn't have speed, or plays LF. That said, he really needs to improve his power numbers. Not just the homeruns, but more doubles too.
agreed. But it appears that this ref hates Crouch, so it probably won't happen. the 50-50 balls are giving him trouble beause of his size. He should try to not use his arms as much, otherwise it looks like he's nailing all the 5'7 Paraguians.
There's 10 guys in the bullpen and none of them besides Howry can pitch the 8th? Dusty got lucky with that hit, he loves the double switch, why can't he use it so his relievers don't have to hit.
I wish we'd get replays of some of the games in primetime. I think ESPN Classic is doing it eventually, but it'd be nice to the games most people won't be able to watch.
-Italy isn't going to win the World Cup. -Brazil is the favorite, but I agree, they won't win the Cup. -If the US doesn't advance it will be very dissapointing. -Group E is tough. The sky is also blue. -Ghana is good. They're just not great. I agree. I don't know where he came up with that one. I think by the Ghana comment Smyth meant that a lot of people are writing them off as easily the worst team in the group and one that has no chance of advancing. Just curious, who are you picking to win the Cup? I have a funny feeling England wins. 40 year anniversary since their last one.
Except there is a difference between sports. In baseball unlike football, they throw an object 90+ MPH at you. There has to be a level of trust between the pitcher and batter. This kind of behavior does not engender itself towards fostering that relationship. The media just didnt spell it out like that. Sure they can hit you in football, but it wont kill you (paralyze maybe). Baseball is a whole different can of worms. Many many people have died playing over the years. Who are the many, many people that have died over the years? I thought there was only one guy killed as a result of something that happened during the game.
I really started to dislike Walker when he constantly was complaining this year about having to move from his natural position, 2B, to fill in where the team needed him at 1B. What a jerk.
He's gonna need to go nuts for that to happen. Wells, Sizemore, GMJ, Granderson, and Damon are all in front of him, production wise. I was thinking of him being the O's token representative but then I forgot who plays shortstop for them.
