  1. When was the last time the Cubs came back from a 5 run deficit? If only Fred was here. I wish the Cubs would show some balls and make a comeback. Everytime they get down early it seems they just go into a shell and give up. This lineup certainly isn't going to help, though. Yeah I agree. They need to change there approach and mix things up a bit. You put pressure on the Nat's and they crumble.
  2. The games it's over yet. Hang in there 5 runs isn't insuremountable. I hope the offense at the very least get's Wood off the hook.
  3. Hay great! I'm missing Freds updates. So it's 0-4 Nats then?
  4. I say 'college of coaches' again. Spread the hate!
  5. no BB yet either. I look his delivery nice and smooth...I like what I see so far. Nice up date Chris. I'm sitting at work blind.
  6. Good point Dude. Looks like the clouds are breaking and the sunlight is beginning to come through. How 'bout a beverage?
  7. Sweep the Nat's is the first order of business. Then we'll see about the Sox. I hope the Cubs come out and hit in the mouth in the first game and win, but we'll see what happens today with Wood. If Wood does decent it could help the momentum and confidence of this team. If Wood's arm falls off it could devistate the team.
  8. They lost 14 of 16, and 4 straight when you wrote that line. They've now just won 2. I would wait until they win 15 of 17 before talking yourself up as a prophet. Goony, In reading the thread in which I am referring to. I said the Cubs should sweep the Nats and gain good momentum going in to the Cross town series. That's all. Never said they'd win 15 and 17 games in a row. After all I am realistic.
  9. Absolutely I agree. But The Cubs needed to win these games or the towel would have hit the canvas. Glad to see the team play baseball. Baby Steps people Baby Steps.
  10. I still don't quite understand why the Cubs feel they need to get rid of this guy. He's been at the center of the offense the last 2 wins. Am Ram is just an out of shape 3rd baseman that was rewarded with a fat contract (Fat RAM?) Everyone else is fumbling around. Jacque Jones is even coming out of his slump. I hope the CUbs are not banking on the power of Bynum? With Woods on tap today, the Cubs pitching seems to have settled down. Marshall is 3-1, which I some how overlooked. Zambo seems to have recovered from the Worlds; Maddux only had one really bad game. That's a pretty good 4 starters if they give quality starts. Just keep Fat Glendon away and in the pen. The Cubs look for the sweep today, yes vs. a bad team and all, but it's a good start and any, ANY momentum going into the Sox series is welcome. Fall down 8 stands up 9 indeed. The thread (and my hopes and faith?) looks prophetic now.
  11. The dirty wods I've been reading right now were Jacque Jones A. Ramirez and the worst Corey. The end is Nigh for this thread.
  12. Here's to another win. Just another one. Play basic simple baseball. No more, no less. Oops, Jacque Jones was just doubled off ending a rally.
  13. 5 2/3 innings; 2 ER; 5 K; 7 H; 3 BB. 1-0
  14. Nobody is acting like he killed somebody. But your pathetic defense of him for "getting doubled off base a few times" is laughable. Jacque Jones was a terrible signing. Jacque Jones has played very poorly for the Cubs. Jacque doesn't have any kind of positive track record with the Cubs. And Jacque whined about fan treatment from day 1. He deserves a huge share of the blame. And trying to defend one pathetic player by citing the pathetic play of others is a terrible way to deflect negative attention from that player. So what you're saying is you don't like "JOCK JONES" then? Right?.....okay.
  15. I say throw a ball at his head. That should put him right. **Embarred Cubs Fan** But you go ahead and be the type of fan you'd like to be.
  16. My attitude is just to win the next game. Keeping the game simple and playing it to the best of the Cubs ability which hasn't been good lately. The players and team will be better then before. **Temping fate** "It can't get any worse!" Vote Quimby...er...ah ..Go Cubs!
  17. That actually made me laugh. Unfortunately it rings so true for this team. Unfortunately it made me laugh too.
  18. I saw no better time for the Cubs to come to life than after their first 3 games into the 8 game loosing streak. And before going something like 1 out of 12. But that didn't happen. What are you going to say when the Nationals beat us 2 out of 3, and the Sox Sweep us? Are you going to say "no beter time when being 11 under .500 and facing the worse team Florida"? You SERIOUSLY think this team (and the way it's playing now) is just going to magically come back to life and SWEEP the Nationals? (Sweep ANY team for that matter) and actually beat a far superior team, the White Sox? (yuck it hurts to say it) I want the Cubs to succeed too. But what you're going on right now, is blind faith. Yes I do believe the Cubs will have an opportunity to sweep the Nationals. I think there better the them. As for the White Sox. I think we'll take the series. I believe the Cubs players will do much better then the last 2 weeks and begin playing baseball. after all they really have nothing to lose where as the White Sox do. The Cubs climb out of the 7 game below .500 and gain Wood and get our pitching staff back on the track then I nice winning streak will happen. But it all begins tomorrow night. With Big Z.
  19. At least 5 -6. Your point being? Since people might attend more that I have a small sample of experiance to pull from right? I see people acting embarassingly. IMO. To me it shows that they don't understand the game at all. All they know is stats and stat books filled with numbers on how this player should have this avarage or should be this good for my team. That's more than I'll go to this year because I don't feel like wasting my money anymore on a crap product on the field. I normally go to double digit games, but as tickets get more expensive and the team on the field sucks more, its difficult to justify to myself spending that much money with the great chance I'll be disappointed. The Cubs fans who go to Wrigley are no longer "blind leading the blind" when it comes voicing their displeasure of the on field product. Call it embarassing if you'd like, I call it long overdue. mark, I can't argue with that.
  20. Those crazy people...negative after losing 14 of 16 games.... Outrageous I know. We should start over...oop oh we can't. I guess forefit the rest of the season because we suck beyond belief. There, I filled in the excuse. That might have been true the last 2 weeks but tomorrows a new day.
