  1. How unfortunate for you. You don't like him? That's putting it kindly.
  2. Nope, blame your Pal John McDonough (and his lacky Jay Blunk) for the UA signs in the outfield. Knew as soon as MacPhail was gone and no longer there to stop him that something would go on those outfield doors. Was chomping at the bit as many as five years ago wanting to put Nike swooshes on the outfield doors and was shut down.
  3. Gee, seems from reading this thread that the Wrigley Company is wasting a lot of money on their signage on the rotation board behind home platre, aren't they? Oh and Ted Turner has not owned the Braves in some time now. Liberty Media finalized their purchase of the club from Time Warner last May and that is why TBS will no longer carry Braves games...they will be on a channel owned by Liberty Media. At some point after the Turner merger with Time Warner AOL in 2000, Ted was slowly forced out and resigned in 06. After that was when Time Warner decided to start dumping the sports properties...Braves, Hawks and the hockey team who's name escapes me. Braves were the last of that group to be cut loose.
  4. How unfortunate for you.
  5. I guess the Cardinals like their drinky. LOL
  6. Just my two cents...for so many years, people complained about the Tribune and how they just wanted to line their pockets. Funny, Tribune is now run by Zell but everyone flat out blames Zell, not Tribune. Just another example of the grass not always being greener on the other side of the fence. BTW, marquee, scoreboard and ivy are all landmarked. It's why they did not rebuild the outfield wall in the bleacher expansion project. They tore everything else out and propped the wall up.
  7. Yes, the Ernie statue and I believe they are installing more of the brick pavers in that area as well. Will have to be done with the pavers in a couple of weeks or move where they sell tickets.
  8. The Red Sox do not release this information anywhere. Not the media guide...not pressbox...not to opponents for their media guides...not even in the MLB media directory.
  9. Or should there be some qualitative measure added? Frankly, 100 "Hey, how ya doin'?" posts don't strike me as much of a qualification. Perhaps 100 or some other number would be the threshhold at which someone would be *considered* for All-Star status. I've set up "Special" ranks and ranks that are determined by the number of posts. The ranks by the number of posts are: Bench Player - 0 Posts Everyday Player - 25 Posts Veteran Player - 250 Posts All-Star - 1000 Posts I'm still trying to figure out a process for the Special Ranks (the only one I'll mention right now is HOF). I imagine that I'll have some nomination / voting process. Can't be right...I have 207 posts and am a role player? Not something I ever paid attention to quite frankly until I ran into this thread.
  10. Might be easier to ask me which teams I haven't seen. That would be ummmmm.....let me think here..... Hmmm, seems there isn't a big league team that I haven't seen play somewhere. Honestly am not kidding about that... Parks I have been to: Wrigley, Comiskey, County Stadium, Miller Park, Metrodome, Old Busch Stadium, Riverfront Stadium, Three Rivers Stadium, Veteran's Stadium, Citizen's Bank Ballpark, Tropicana Field, Minute Maid Park, The Ballpark at Arlington, Dodger Stadium, Angels Stadium. Yeah that that is all and I know, many of them are gone but that is what happens...if you want a new ballpark, I am your gal. LOL
  11. I believe they are putting in more pavers and that is where the Ernie Banks statue will be.
  12. Does anyone else see a little bit of irony in this post? This is a message board and not a blog...big difference. Not understanding why the boys here are always wanting to fight with me and challenge everything I say. Been a little more vocal of late because what I say no longer affects my employment as it did in the past. No, before you ask, I am not Carrie Muskat or any other beat writer.
  13. This was done by an ad agency not the Cubs. Agency is Jones Chicago. They should be fired for this campaign. I find the campaign awful but that's just me and I am entitled to my opinion.
  14. Does not mean as the GM of a major market team that he would be so candid with the everyday fan because he wouldn't. That is career suicide and I believe he knows better.
  15. Ummm........... am I reading this on the internet :-k Semantics...
  16. It was a very fair portrayal of Hendry. And, if anything, it might have been slightly flattering. And you were there to witness this? Just asking since I know someone who was there.
  17. And you can counter it...how? I have a friend who was at this event until the very end. I sent this person the blog and they denied that any of this happened. My friend would have no reason to lie to me either. Believe me or don't believe me...whichever you choose. I just don't buy it based on someone who was there.
  18. You just might be surprised what I do and don't know... That is all a matter of semantics and I am referring to bloggers who try to pass themselves off as journalists.
  19. Being that I cannot afford it I have no chance and neither does Cuban. Sorry.
  20. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. The blogger who wrote that has a very active imagination and obviously needs some attention.
  21. Several weeks after the convention you can go to the WGN web site to hear the sessions their on air personalities host. They will provide links. Other than that, you can get bits and pieces on CSN on SportsNite and maybe check out the Chicago TV stations web sites for some footage.
  22. Heads up...Crane Kenney is pretty thin skinned. Wants all of the glory and none of the blame. He knows very little about baseball...one of those sterotypical Cub fans. Rile him up for a bit of fun.
  23. First, Zell is not the CEO of the Cubs...he is CEO of the Tribune Company. Go to the cubs web site and under the roster link is a link to a list of front office personnel...you will not see Sam Zell's name anywhere. There is no CEO of the club right now nor president since McD left. Why put someone in a position where they will ultimately be let go? Cuban has a good a chance of buying the club as I do.
  24. Guess this means Crane Kenney has to look for a different job when the new owners take over the Cubs?
  25. Wow. I guess it's a little two late for me... ah, it wouldn't have worked anyway. You shouldn't have any problem getting rid of your ticket, vance. Hey maybe next year you could give us pointers on how best to secure tickets for the event. Book your room at the Chicago Hilton and Towers and you are in.
