  1. Maybe because he was only the GM for two years of his tenure here? Get your facts straight. You definetly work for the Tribune company. Why, because I told him to get his facts straight? Those are the facts. MacPhail was Cubs GM from July 2000 to July 2002...TWO years. I just happen to pay more attention to the business side of the game because it fascinates me. That doesn't mean that I work for Tribune Company. I think the responses to my post shows why I don't have a lot of posts for the number of years that I have been a member of this community. I just seems that everytime there is bashing of old Andy around here, you show up. Regardless of how much time he served as GM, Andy Failure was a disgrace to this organization, whether as President or GM, and I find it hillarious that another organization would give him anything better than a mop job. And you are entitled to your opinion. When I offer mine, I get my head bit off. I do think if you check my posts that I comment on other subjects as well...I am usually ignored. Suspect it is because I am a girl.

And why is that exactly? Because it seems if I comment I either am ignored or attacked. Not very enjoyable for me.

  4. Maybe because he was only the GM for two years of his tenure here? Get your facts straight. Wow, sorry. Maybe if you try you can be a jackass about it next time. I meant President, not GM. EH? I made a comment.

  6. Actually, I think that's completely justified in that situation. whole situation is avoided if barrett just mans up and takes it. Whole situation is avoided if Zambrano isn't a baby, or doesn't try and blame his team for the 13 hits and six earned runs. Whole situation is also avoided if Barrett plays like a competent major league catcher rather than committing both a passed ball and an error to allow a run to score, then following Zambrano to the clubhouse for more. Zambrano's mainly to blame, but Barrett isn't innocent here. Z would have just jumped on someone else had Barrett not made the mistakes he did.
  7. Really, where was Yosh? Visting clubhouse...he's been there for years now.
  8. Jim Hendry was not at the ballpark but out scouting a player for the upcoming draft. Yes, I'm serious.
  9. Where do you get that was aimed at Barrett? MHO...it was aimed at Hendry.
  10. I think if Lou wanted to walk out on this team then he would have and none of them could have stopped him. He has done it before and he will do it again.
  11. Lou hasn't said anything in the media that I haven't to the tv, but he's their manager, not a fan. He owes them a certain amount of respect in the public arena. Rip them a new one in private. Make them ride the bench. You don't accomplish anything positive by tossing guys under the bus in press conferences. Quite the opposite. I completely agree with you on this one. It is one thing to hold a player accountable for his play and another thing to throw him under the bus in front of the media. And people are wondering why Barrett is having issues this season. ::sheesh::
  12. Boy, if there was ever a time that we needed to hear something from Bruce Miles, this is one of them.
  13. I don't get it though. Yeah, Barrett's never been an above average defensive catcher, but now he's just gone through the bottom of the tank. He's worse than a freaking pee wee catcher now. I don't remember him being an idiot on the basepads like this either? Maybe a few times, but not every damn game? What the hell, I really want to know why Barrett has tanked so sharply in such a short period of time. Z I can understand a little. He's an abused pitcher and I'm convinced there is an unreported injury waiting to be revealed. I don't get Barrett. JMHO...it's Lou.
  14. Where did you hear that?
  15. It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined. Barrett charged at Z and then Z shoved Barrett. Lol Barret did not charge at Z. He might have stepped towards him but definatly didnt charge lol. From the TBS feed, it looks like BarRett charged Z. TBS feed is a horrible angle on the whole thing.
  16. I just checked my guide on DirecTV. Anyone who has CSNC as their regionals sports net can watch/tape this game in its entirity at 2 AM central time. I saw it and personally, I don't blame Barrett and he did not shove Z. He stepped toward him with his hands up and Z lunged and girl slapped Michael in the face and it escalated from there. ESPN's Buster Olney reported that Z was up in the tunnel screaming at Michael to come finish the fight after Z was escorted into the clubhouse. Testosterone seemed to get the better of Michael and he ended up with a split lip and a black eye. Supposedly bad blood has been brewing all over the Cubs clubhouse for some time and even players on other teams knew about it. I am sure they will replay Buster's report on the next BT.
  17. I can see that happening, simply because Z is theoretically more important to any hope the Cubs have of contending and because Barrett has a history of this kind of crap since 2004. And Z has a history of calling out teammates for defensive miscues. Now I can almost forgive Todd Walker for calling Z on the carpet on the radio in 04.
  18. Z left the park? Z was told to leave the park. Lou told him to shower and go home but we all know that now from the circus, I mean, press conference.
  19. Don't give the current president credit for this. This has been on the drawing board for years and was supposed to go with the triangle building that was shelved. It was decided this was a good time. What is the bug up your butt with MacPhail?
  20. Never bought into that. There's plenty of poverty in Latin America, even moreso than in US inner cities, yet there's no shortage of latin kids finding their way onto pro baseball rosters. Simple fact is baseball is no longer very popular with young African Americans. That's why the scarcity of black players isn't going away anytime soon. Jesse Jackson can bitch about it all he wants but it won't change anything. I think the bottom line here is that in the NBA and NFL these kids go straight to the big league...and the money. In MLB, that doesn't happen too often with much success and in today's society of instant gratification, kids don't want to put in a couple of years or more in the minors. They want the money and glory and they want it now. So, where are the protests about the lack of diversity on the field in the NFL and NBA? And don't Jesse Jackson and his minions have better things to do with their time and other people's money?
  21. Well, the ballclub is run by a Marketing man and it was his decision.
  22. Come on, Vance. That's not nice. This person obviously doesn't want to be revealed for valid reasons. While this message board is the be all end all of everything that is good in everyone's life :D , it's hardly worth risking her job over. Let's leave it at that. Thanks, BigBadB. Appreciated...
  23. I guess you don't understand the business of baseball then. Just because all of you think Cuban is the solution and want him to buy to Cubs, it doesn't mean that MLB and the owners agree. He has no chance. Do you have inside information? If so please share. If not, your post is very presumptive. First off, anyone with baseball knowledge knows it is common sense that Cuban would not be allowed to purchase the club with the way he behaves. Second, yes I do have inside information for reason which I cannot reveal...like I like being employed. Are you a spy for the government? I love how so many new posters have such amazing and mysterious sources of knowledge. RedIvyCub's been a member since late 2003. Just because a member doesn't post a lot doesn't mean they don't have insight, information, or sources. For example, in the pre-NSBB days, I was a long-time lurker on cubs.com and (sometimes) espn. I had somewhere around 250 posts total in several years. I guess my comment was more a reaction to his condescending remarks such as, "anyone with baseball knowledge knows" and "I guess you don't understand the business of baseball then". Even if he has inside information, thats just annoying. Sorry, didn't mean to sound condescending in the least. Just trying to follow the vibe of this board. And I am not a HE...I am a she. I will have Bruce verify that I am not pulling anyone's leg sometime soon. I know you all trust him.

I love how so many new posters have such amazing and mysterious sources of knowledge. Sorry...like having a job so I know it doesn't make me sound terribly credible. But there is someone who posts here that I could talk to and if he told you that I am credible without revealing how I have the knowledge that I do, you would believe him. That would be one Bruce Miles...will see if I can catch up with him so he will vouch for me.
