  1. As was said right above, the attacks on Weis are in regards to his hypocricy. He denounces recruits for backing out on verbal commitments when he is out trying to get recruits to do just that. I know it goes on. We all do. Almost every school continues to recruit the players they want even after verbal commitments. Everyone realizes that nothing is final until a name is signed on the LOI. What makes Weis a whiner and a hypocrite is he tries to act all wronged by these boys while at the same time, he's trying to get others just like them to back out of commitments. He should do what he does, fine...but quit bitching like a teenage girl when the same crap bites him on that rather large posterior. Ok, this'll be the last time I try to make this clear. He's not whining about guys breaking their commitments alone, he was whining - very justifiably - about the manner in which the Littles (particularly Greg) did it. The crap GL pulled on us was right on the level of Irsay moving the Colts to Indianapolis overnight - a total snow job. Which is why there should be no such thing as a public "commitment" for these kids. It's not just high school football players that have a problem with the word "commitment" - it's kids and even young adults that have a problem with it. FSU lost out on three players who would have made a HUGE difference in the haul they took home, and possibly put us in the top 10 (for the 5th straight year), each of whom verbally committed at some point. The three players? Marvin Austin, Michael McNeil, and Deonte Thompson. Two 4* and one 5* players, and all three of them would have had a shot to come in and get *some* playing time right away. The difference is that I won't bellyache about it, since I know it's going to happen to us. We don't have a grand list of commitments, and then have to pull scholarships like #7 down in Gainesville, just when someone "better" wants to commit.
  2. I'm beginning to wonder if any of you ND-haters on this board read. The Louisville player we got decommitted after the coaching change. The Iowa player we got wanted to come to ND all along, just never had an offer - Kirk Ferentz pretty much admitted as much. Once he was offered (because ND lost out on other players it wanted more at the time, and because Corwin Brown's new scheme as DC made Brian Smith a much better fit), he committed pretty much immediately. I don't know the circumstances of the SC player we got, but considering Steve Spurrier's been pissing on Notre Dame ever since we kicked his ass in the 1992 Sugar Bowl, right down to lowballing us in every coaches' poll every year for no apparent reason, I'm not exactly crying for him. I've explained the first two of those situations already, but I guess the "different situations" tag you just gave to Chris Little don't apply if it gives you guys a chance to trash Charlie or ND. (Also of note: Weis said the two decommits on NSD were completely different situations. My guess is, he's not that mad at Chris, since there were other factors in his decision. But Greg L. decommitted from us not until NSD - while leading everyone at ND to believe he was still coming as late as the night before - and with no explanation.) Actually, I did read it - and the Louisville coaching change was the only one that I'll give you credit for, since that's applicable to changing schools. I did also notice that you didn't try to defend Lemming. At least you can admit that he, too, is a ND homer and actively recruits kids to ND - while supposedly being unbiased. Wait a minute-you give Little a pass because a spot at Georgia opened up at the last minute that he could fill, but you don't give the Iowa player a pass for coming to ND because a spot opened up at the last minute? What's the difference? I never gave Little a pass. I said that it was Bush League for Weis to call him out on it when he esentially did the same thing.
  3. The reason he doesn't get hit as hard is that it's in the south, and most people who are on the board are from the midwest (or are fans of teams from up north). There are a few exceptions, but that's the great majority. If you wish, I can craft up a pile of crap for #7 (the nickname for Oscar Meyer, since he's the 7th coach at UF since Bowden started). Someone who will need to be watched for over the next few years is Nick Saban at Alabama. From everything I've heard, he's even dirtier than Meyer and Weis, and he was doing everything he could to pull players from the southeast this year.

  5. Lemming seems to like Northwestern's class a little more than Rivals or Scout. Recruiting certainly ended with a bit of a whimper, but it's pretty darn strong, especially in the secondary. Lemming is full of it. I repeat - Lemming is full of it, and I'll be more than happy to say it to his sorry little face. Someone said that Weis was the lowest form of scum on the earth, and they were mistaken - it's actually the two-bit hack Tom Lemming who is the slimiest, dirtiest, sleaziest douchebag on the planet. And I'm just mentioning the tip of the iceberg as to how I feel about this guy. That said, the story of Chris Little is completely false, and yet another fabrication by Lemming to save face for his precious little ND homers. The only part I can fathom being correct is that Little commited to FSU, and then switched to ND. What's left out is that he committed to FSU, who then named a new OL coach. When Little didn't fit the system under Trickett, Trickett asked him to continue to look around, since he wasn't sure he fit the new system FSU would be implementing. When another UGA recruit (Antwane Greenlee) recently (the night before signing day) changed his mind and decided to head to FSU, a spot was opened up at UGA and Little was able to fill the vacated spot. Little was headed to ND up to the point where a scholarship opened up at UGA at the last second. ND was jilted, and Lemming could do nothing about it by trying to steer another recruit there to make up for the loss. And notice that Lemming makes no bones about the three recruits that Weis kept recruiting from other schools, in spite of the fact that Weis decided to call the Littles out on national TV. Scum-sucking ND homers.
  6. Sounds like he hasn't signed yet...was a WVU lean i thought the big news with Devine was that he wasn't going to sign anywhere There ya go. I was trying to ffigure out what the heck he was doing. It's an interesting situation. He was a WVU lean, and it seems his coach was ready to get all the accolades if Devine was going there, and then Deion Sanders stepped in at the last second and told him to sit down, take a deep breath and reconsider. Devine may take an official to FSU in the near future, and will hopefully sign with FSU. That said, it's where my bias ends as an FSU fan. I think Devine needs to go to prep school and get his crap together, and then sign next year. He seems a bit too immature at this stage, and I don't want to see another kid screw up his life, no matter where he signs.
  7. College footballs National Signing Day is tomorrow. How's your team looking?
  8. Interesting. Steve Sarkisian turns down the Raiders opening. Even more interesting is that it looks like he would have taken Lane Kiffin with him to Oakland as his OC.
  9. Yep, he'll probably be with Saban. Tech was trying to hire him, but couldn't afford him. Actually, from all reports, it appears he's headed to Florida State. It seems he's still mighty PO'ed that Paul Bryant, Jr. blocked his confirmation to take over as head coach of UAB, and doesn't want to benefit the UA program.
  10. If the intent was to re-sign him, the best idea would be to frontload the contract so that he's hitting the cheaper years as Soriano, et al hit their expensive years. Of course there is the option others have mentioned of letting him walk. The problem with that scenario is that MLB doesn't like/won't allow players to start off with frontloaded contracts. Players don't get to claim the 10-15% increase on their salary based on their highest paid year, just the last year.
  11. Looks like it's Bob Bradley for a while.
  12. Here's the link for those interested. No other choices mentioned. Seems like Klinsmann had Gulati over the barrel in negotiations, and Gulati wasn't willing to give some ground. I hope there are some other magic choice out there, or we're in trouble.
  13. The rumored 5 year, $45 million contract makes the Soriano signing seem level-headed by comparison.
  14. Not something new, but something that's new to Cubbie fans. We're not used to keeping track of how many top-tier FA's we sign. :D
  15. Which is a perfect complement to the fact that he is a giant boob.
  16. True, the GOB network won't change. False, affirmative action works.
  17. Not needed in baseball. The quote in the Tribune did mention "diversity" in interviewing. If I'm not mistaken, I believe "diversity" is an old wooden ship.
  18. I'll admit that I haven't been keeping up at all with the minor league system lately, but what's been going on with Ryan? How is he progressing, and is he looking anything like the superstar he was destined?
  19. True, but moving from a better league to a worse league should mean that stats would remain mostly the same from last year if he were to go to an NL team.
  20. and FSU lost!\:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ And I'm pissed. If one of the Bowdens (preferably both) don't get fired this week, they won't be receiving any more donations - and this will be spelled out to the president of the university in tomorrow's letter.
  21. That's what happens when a ND homer puts up the schedule. :D
  22. Ridiculous game. 7 fumbles, and 4 turnovers lost by FSU. Sloppy all the way around, plus they've lost 3 DT's this game. This is the classic trap game in a schedule that sets up nicely. Jeff Bowden has to go. He obviously can't run a Pee-Wee Football offense. Yuck!
  23. I think PSU wins if the game is on the road, but at home ND will pull away late. And I look for Derrick Williams to go nuts on their D.
  24. That offense has struggled for a while now as has Miami's. And even after the game last night, I'm still pondering what this game means for FSU football. Does it mean they've finally found a way to adjust when behind? Or does it mean that we're still looking at an inept offense? All I really know is that the D is fast, and the LB's can hit! But the schedule sets up nicely (only 4 road games; 5 if FSU makes the ACC championship game) for a run. There is no dominant team out there this year, so we'll just sit back and see what happens. I predict Auburn will be in the NC game, just not sure against who.
