  1. Book on Dansby is similar to PCA. Nothing but curves and changeups, just a little closer to the zone.
  2. Team wide offensive slump? Are we already in September?
  3. 14 pitches and 2 fastballs to PCA. All above the zone.
  4. Interesting twist. The team allowing 5.3/game on the road vs a team coming into the series scoring 5.6/clip at wrigley managed 9 total runs in a sweep. The book on PCA looks similar to Javy with curves and changeups nowhere near the zone both low and away. He lives and dies by the sword golfing a homer on a curveball near his knees and struck out on another curve in the dirt.
  5. Vs a team allowing 5.3 runs/game on the road vs the Cubs offense scoring at a clip of 5.6 runs/game at wrigley.. 9 runs????? The addition by subtraction from Berti to Shaw is at least a difference of 4 wins in theory and was the difference on Tuesday and last Wednesday.. I’d like to see him barrel some more pitches but otherwise his impact is noticeable
  6. Cubs got a raw deal with Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz in back to back to back games.
  7. Rockies have been throwing changeups and breaking pitches way off the plate low and or away to PCA all week. Not one strike or fastball fastball in his at bat.
  8. Don’t let their 9-44 record deceive you. They’re under performing their pythag win loss record by a full 3 games. If a few bounces went their way they’re 12-41.
  9. Last season it took them 74 games to reach 300 runs on June 18th. Right now they’re at 321 through 53 on May 25th, while reaching the 300 mark in 51 games.
  10. Such a shame this offense is being wasted by injuries. Time for south Bend Brown to develop anything that isn’t a 95 mph 4 seamer or an 88 mph knuckle curve..
  11. For a 40 YO Turner with a 540 OPS at that. Busch at worst would be a net neutral vs lefties at the plate and his defense alone gives him an edge over Turner.
  12. I still don’t understand why is a 40 YO Turner hitting under the Mendoza line a better option than Busch.
  13. Is Busch out with an oblique injury or does Counsel still refuse to give his every day first basemen abs vs lefties?
  14. Sick and tired of watching him labor through every inning and forcing the offense to put up a 10 spot to feel safe.
  15. That double play grounder was one of the hardest hit balls of the inning.
  16. You’re talking about his 94 mph fastball with a weird grip that he calls a changeup. If that counts as a third pitch, he needs a fourth one.
  17. This is an extra innings loss with Berti batting 9th. Encouraging to see Horton and Shaw make significant contributions in a win even if it’s the Marlins.
  18. 1-1 in the 7th inning in the final game of a 3 game set. So typical.
  19. Until Brown develops a third pitch he’ll never be a quality starting pitcher. If you’re a hitter you either sit on a fastball or curve ad wait for him to throw you a hittable pitch. He throws nothing that moves horizontally off the plate so as a hitter it’s easy to lay off pitchers on the corners, At 6’7, it’s a lot easier to pick up the spin on a breaking pitch too when it starts at eye level due to his height and over the top delivery. Siitter, cutter, anything. He’ll spend his career in the pen until he develops at least another pitch.
  20. Kind amazing how the cubs are third in MLB in homeruns while having only 1 homer combined from the second and third baseman through 47 games and counting.
  21. He needs to change his grip so his change up is more than 1 mph slower than his fastball. It’s basically a fastball with a weird grip.
  22. Yep. It’s literally their core identity. Such pathetic f****. Hope they break their loss record from last year.
