Are the Brewers good? Yes. But I don't believe they're "that good" For some reason, LA Dodgers aren't playing good baseball, and the Brewers benefited from that with scheduling. Dodgers were swept by Houston the series prior to the first Milwaukee series. Even though Dodgers took 2 out of 3 against San Francisco last weekend, they only won a game 2-1 and played a 5-2 game in 11 innings where they scored 3 runs in that 11th inning. So, obviously, they only scored 4 runs in their last 18 innings to end the first half. I think it's the more about Dodgers playing bad baseball than Brewers playing good baseball. Cubs took 2 out of 3 against a team a team that won 10 straight heading into the all-streak is more impressive than a team (MIL) sweeping an opponent (LAD) that went 2-7 in their 9 games heading in the break. That's just my opinion.

I'm going to it, don't know how high my seats are, but at least there is a concert before the game.

The whole event has changed. The home run derby has went from an evening event to making sure the event ends in 2-2.5 hours. The Josh Hamilton home run derby at the old Yankee Stadium will always be magical. I don't mind the pregame festivities as much, but strongly disagree with the selection progress. Christopher Sanchez should 100% be in over Jacob Misioroski. And the Cubs should have more than 3 players in the event. The MVP of the first half shouldn't be batting 9th.

I agree. I wasn't a big fan of Jed at first but he is growing on me. I believe he does deserve an extension.

What's exciting about this deadline is the expiration of Jed and Carter's contracts. We're going to see some desperation. All hands on deck.

I think they need another solid reliever as well. Doesn't have to be a closer, but Griffin Jax (using him as an example) I think will be perfect. -

Twins starters have gone 10 combined innings pitch with 131 pitches. Cubs starters have gone 11.2 combined innings with 177 pitches. -
I want Suarez but I know there will be a bidding war with Cubs and Yankees to get him. I would love Austin Riley but there's no way Atlanta is getting rid of him. Heck, Braves still believe they're buyers.

It could honestly be anything. I know when Ryan Weathers had his velocity down, it was due to a lat strain, which landed him on the 60-day IL. Imanaga is fine, but he's pitching with little room for any mistakes. One thing Cubs can't do is to go down 2-0 in the 7th, and then it's basically over from there. The only benefit to Imanaga throwing 89 is that it looks like a rising fastball, so it's missing some barrels.

I would call Baltimore on Morton. I was surprised that he is actually playing baseball this season because I thought last year would be his last season with Atlanta. I will still call Miami and take Alcantara. I know he's been bad, but with the pedigree that Jed and company have on pitchers, there's something in the tank that will be able to get him back. I do believe Miami should keep Cabrera and go with the Cabrera/Ryan Weathers combo. Atlanta should be nuts telling people they're not wanting to trade Chris Sale, only for Chris Sale to land on the 60-Day IL days later. I like Joe Ryan, Ober, Lopez, and Lugo. However, I like Miami's pitchers more.

I'm not sure what Rockies are doing, so I agree. I know a player that is from my hometown and was drafted by them in the 1st round. He currently pitches for the Rockies, but doesn't pitch much, or if he does, it's in "low leverage" situations. But, he does have the big curveball that doesn't do well at Coors Field. I know his road stats are better than his home stats. I'm just surprised it's taking this long for the Rockies to figure this out from a pitching standpoint. I know their breaking balls doesn't have enough bite, so it's best to go with the hard ball 4-seam/sinker and changeup/split combos. With that being said, they don't have the best ownership either, and won't be as willing to give out contracts (especially big ones) because they're paying Bryant as their big contract. But, they don't have a shot to compete simply because they don't have the resources to compete with the Dodgers. They just don't

Dodgers lost. They now have 35 losses and have to play a 3 game set in Milwaukee tomorrow. Cubs at 36 losses.

Freeman and Alonso are pretty much guarantees. For Olson, I would love to see Suzuki over him because I still value RBI's and the Cubs are 14 games better than Atlanta, but I have a feeling with the game being in Atlanta, that Olson will get a good shot. Pretty much would like to see our guys get rest though.

I think it's selfish Mikolas is in the game in the 6th. Cardinals last played Wednesday afternoon (Cubs played two full games since that time), Sonny Gray went 6.2 innings on Wednesday. They were off yesterday and will be off Monday.
