Not sure it'll happen because a team will let them get a win just to end the streak. All part of "boys club" in the game. They probably win both games in the Kansas City series if it wasn't for Bobby Witt.

I think the White Sox asking price doesn't meet the on-field performance from Robert. Luis should've been traded from this past offseason. He is a free agent in 2028. But the issue is health. If he plays every game throughout the rest of the season, then he will be around 107-109 mark in games played. Which will only be the 2nd time in his 4 year (2020 doesn't count) MLB career he will pass the 100 games. Robert has a walk percentage of .009 (20/204 AB's). He has also struck out 82 times in his 204 at-bats so far this season, which is around 40%. I have a feeling that + health, scare teams away with the asking price. If I am Pittsburgh, I would trade for him, but they are the Pirates. Crochet screwed the White Sox, too. I don't see him getting traded. -

Just figured Jed gave Morel every chance he can prove to play every day and get at bats. While he doesn't have a position, there were opportunities for him to get AB's. He didn't perform, and that's that. I can careless about his BABIP or the "unlucky" stats, he hit under .200 and doesn't play defense. When Counsell put Mastrobuoni in at third base in Baltimore, I can get a sense of something is about to happen. Bigge was the one I hated to see go, but I know the Cubs have several bullpen arms to pitch in Chicago for years to come, and 100 MPH's pitchers are common nowadays. Happy to have Isaac Parades as a Cub for the years to come. Don't think it'll block Cam Smith because he won't be in Chicago until at least 2026. This trade also gives clarity at the DH spot because they can move Suzuki there and promote Caissie. They now have options at that spot. With all that being said, did the Cubs get better today? Yes.

Jed can capitalize on trading players and getting a good return based on desperation. Hoerner and/or Bellinger can go to Seattle and get a good return. Taillon can go to Boston. Both Red Sox and Mariners have a good catching prospect that the Cubs might need to look at. For Seattle, their catcher might be blocked with Raleigh. Kansas City hasn't made the playoffs in a while. Cleveland has no starting pitching. Atlanta needs help in the outfield. Not saying the Cubs should trade everybody, but I think there needs to be a lot of players available, and if a team gets a little desperate, then capitalized on that. Seattle isn't going to stand pat on this deadline. Don't think the Braves have the prospects to get a massive deal done, but I can't imagine a team that is in the wild card #1 spot to not make a deal at the deadline. If Toronto is willing to keep Guerrero, then the asking price for Bellinger might just go up. Seattle/Houston need a first baseman, and Yankees/Phillies need a center fielder.

Don't have a problem with your post, but with your "team needs" that is listed at the bottom of your post, the team is going to have to make trades with the current major league roster. Don't think all will be done via free agency. With that being said, Jed is going to have to make some tough decisions. Agree with the closer part because I believe that is what Counsell will demand over the offseason.

I was there in person and he pitched well. Birdsell got hit early but battled his way to eat some innings. Iowa made two outs on the bases during that game. -

The stadium is cool, I went there in 2018 when they played Miami. However, I didn't go to The Battery. Just frustrated because I know the game atmosphere is amazing for a baseball game, and they did a good job with the stadium accommodating the heat during the summer months. Cubs last weekend trip to Atlanta was 2016, which would be the last year at Turner Field.

Baseball Gods got to Morel there. Got on board in the 4th inning from walk on a 3-2 pitch, that was a strike. Now he struck out on a pitch that was a ball. Feel bad for him.

We'll be done with Arizona, San Diego, Texas, and Dodgers in April. Would love to see a weekend trip to Atlanta and not a trip during the week. It's been a few years for that to happen.

95+ games into the year bud. He has around a 45% strikeout rate when the count goes to 2 strikes.... That should tell you one thing.

It's a trade I'll do in a heartbeat. Or send him to Seattle for Harry Ford. But Teel has done well this season in the minors.

It's a gamble that I'm sure the front office isn't willing to take. Counsell basically gave up on him at 3rd base for Mastrobuoni. He's not playing 2nd base if Nico is on the roster. I'm not really sure if the at bats are there for him in 2025. What if he never improves and pays accordingly?

I would listen to phone calls regarding Taillon and Bellinger, but I may not reply back. Elias in Baltimore is going to be in a lot of pressure, how much will he give up for Taillon and/or Bellinger? Orioles need a starter, but they already have their ace pitcher in Burnes. I think Taillon will get a lot more trade interest than the starters that are out there (exception Crochet). Mullins is struggling in center for the Orioles. The time to win for them is now. I think the Cubs could benefit from that very well. Does Houston need a starter? Does Atlanta need an outfielder? What about Cleveland and Kansas City... I just believe there should be higher interest than usual for Bellinger and Taillon, but it doesn't mean the Cubs just have to let them go. For them to be buyers, I think they need to go 6-3 in their next 9 games for me to be convinced.

They can add picks by trading players on the current roster. Nationals/Royals did it yesterday. Washington's closer went to Kansas City for a minor leaguer and the 39th pick. They can only trade the competitive balance picks. So first round picks are purely set. Can't trade picks for picks like it's the NFL draft.

I mean, yeah he threw 7 shutout against the Orioles, but only threw 70 pitches. With that being said, he's at 70 pitches, and they were stress free pitches, let him take two complete games heading into the All-Star break. I know Smyly hasn't pitched in a few days, but we are playing 4 games in 3 days with Hendricks starting tomorrow. Just shocked.

I don't think you understand. Umpires are willing to give up some control of their calls to help the game. I'm sure they're okay with each team challenging a play throughout the duration of the game. If a team missed a challenge, then sorry, they obviously can't challenge the next call. I'm sure they're okay with the challenge system for balls and strikes. 3 challenges of 125+ pitches for each team, I'm sure the umpires are on board with that. But if a team carelessly uses all of their challenges, then sorry, we're back to playing normal baseball. They're not willing to go to the robotic system, and I'm not even sure players are 100% wanting to go to that as well. News flash: we can still play baseball without the pitch coms and the pitch clock, they did that in Washington earlier this season. They've been talking about this for 5+ years, and it still hasn't happen.... So I'll believe it when I see it.

Umpires association aren't going to give up that much control. MLB has to go to them and see what they want. Manfred and his team can't just say "screw the umpires" over the offseason. Robotic system isn't coming to the MLB, at least anytime soon. Accept that.
