  1. You have B.J. Upton and Edwin Encarnacion as the left side of your infield and Prince Fielder playing first.
  2. What the Snell? You have to love Walker going deep on an 0-2 count.
  3. I missed the first five pages of this thread but I bet people were apoplectic about Bynum batting second instead of 8th. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. Mike Gonzalez is their closer. He's supposed to be talented.
  5. Great throw by Aramis to pick off Duffy at first for the DP!
  6. I hope Mabry showed Walker how to warm up for a pinch hit like he did for Barrett.
  7. Guess I was a little late on that one.
  8. I would send Ronny. The catcher is only 2 for 9 throwing people out and a PH might lead off the 6th if he fails.
  9. I was just getting used to the Pagan Era. I hope doesn't have to go on the DL. He got carried off like Sean Casey yesterday.
  10. Spike Lee's been on a roll lately with 25th Hour, Inside Man and that beer commerical.
  11. Besides Jimmy Rollins, who are the other NL SS's competing with Ronny for an All-Star spot? He could get more media coverage than Felipe Lopez if the Cubs stay hot into the summer and the Reds falter.
  12. I would accept Ronny hitting .200 considering his defensive prowess. I'm glad that I don't have to.
  13. Aramis is the last guy I'm worried about. We'll all be screaming like Ronnie Woo Woo when he hits .571 for two weeks. Does anyone remember when he carried the Cubs for weeks at a time last June?
  14. The good news is that the Cubs made Duke throw 27 pitches to 4 batters. He'll be hard pressed to get past the fifth at that rate.
  15. Ramirez was awesome his rookie year for the Pirates. He got in a fight with a pitcher his second year and played hurt the whole season. His numbers went down. He got traded to the Cubs and became awesome again. Someone please correct me if I have the chronology wrong.
  16. I love the fact that Pierre is making Duke waste a lot of pitches. It was a good at-bat even though he struck out. I hope that Williams gets that fat mid-1990's Braves outside corner that the umpire has set up.
  17. I meant 2000 instead of 2003. I just checked and Luis is 25 now. I thought he was a lot older than that. Hopefully some of his talent will be useful at the major league level.
  18. Isn't Luis pretty old for AA? It feels like he has been around forever. When was he drafted? 2003? How old is he now?
  19. I'll take it. I figure that the Cubs will have more talent as the season improves. They'll make trades and have a stronger roster in the second half of the season. That doesn't even include all the injured starters coming back.
  20. Jim Edmonds just struck out with the bases loaded to end the 8th inning. Reds are up 1-0.
  21. You can't get a RBI on a double play.
  22. Felix Hernandez is obviously supremely talented. The problem is that you can't mortgage that much of your future unless it is for a sure thing. The problem is those players are expensive. I would make that trade for Johan Santana. Any pitcher under 25 is still in the injury nexus. A pitcher can recover from surgery and still lose a mile or two off their fastball. I prefer to package minor leaguers with veterans to upgrade the position. You'll get more with Jacque Jones and Rich Hill than you will with Hill, Aardsma, and Pawalek.
  23. Hell Yeah! It's a brand new ballgame with two innings to go except we get two extra outs!
  24. Over the course of the season, who would you rather have playing SS: Neifi, Nomar, or Ronny C? Nomar is already on the DL for a large sum. Neifi is obviously best as a temporary stopgap. Ronny has offensive skills and it is quite possible that this is the defensive low point of his career. I don't mean the only two error game he'll ever have. I mean that he will become more comfortable and trust his talent. Give him more than four days before you tear him apart.
