  1. No matter how the team performs, this has been a funny thread. Everyone, especially JC, has been keeping me smiling instead of crying.
  2. I bet he has a bottle of Jack Daniels sitting next to him.
  3. This team is doomed to failure right now because they have no margin for error. Two runs in the first can still be a quality start. The Reds are in first because they don't care how many runs they go down. They figure they can score 8 runs at any time.
  4. I want to stay away but this team won't let me.
  5. There is no way that Hendry gives up three pitchers for Pierre only to bench him in early May. The pitching decisions (except for Rusch) have worked out for the most part. Almost all the blame belongs to the outfield acquisitions.
  6. I can't even watch this team right now. The pitching has been excellent the last couple of games and I felt no threat of the Cubs scoring. I don't mean winning, I mean actually forcing a run across the plate. I can't imagine how frustrated everyone in that clubhouse must feel.
  7. I just got home and my first thought is that I was surprised that the Cubs had eight hits. They must have been distributed pretty evenly if they only have one run.
  8. I'm calling that Park walks in the run.
  9. You know the season is slipping away when a 9/11 docudrama is less depressing than the Cubs game.
  10. They also have a glowing review of Jacque Jones.
  11. What'd he say? "And the Cubs fans are silenced!" It was more the scorn in his voice. Normally that level of disdain is reserved for Fox News talking about Bill Clinton.
  12. Thom must still be really bitter towards the Cubs.
  13. It seems like Cedeno hits better when he needs to execute. I'm excited to have him on the team for years. Cedeno>>>Furcal at $13 million a year.
  14. Mark Grace hitting on the newswoman in the booth. Man, that takes me back.
  15. 9.6 And that's on the Richter Scale. It was a good play by Gonzales but it was a baserunning play they teach you in Little League.
  16. Thom Brenneman: "If you can count on one thing under the sun, it's that the Cubs will run the bases poorly." Mark Grace: "They couldn't have done it without me all those years."
  17. I will interrupt the general tone of negativity to say that Marshall enters May with a firm shot at Rookie of the Year. Everyone talked up the young hitters like Zimmerman, Fielder, or a Marlin but Marshall has been spectacular as of late.
  18. Houston's bullpen is getting used up tonight. Let's hope Marshall does something special in the 5th start of his rookie season.
  19. Wow. That escalated quickly. Congratulations to the Aardvark with what we hope is his first victory of the season!
  20. I'll give credit where credit is due. Good hit by Neifi. Wavin' Wendell would have had Murton thrown out at the plate.
  21. You can't say that Carlos isn't intense. I was waiting for him to separate his patella.
  22. Jacque has been ice cold and he is notoriously poor against lefties. He hits them as well as a good high school player or iconic basketball player would. The only reason I can see him starting today is because Dusty plans on sitting him tomorrow anyway. Dusty doesn't want to bench him three days in a row.
  23. Good at bat by Ramirez. If the first 9 hitters do that, the opposing pitcher will leave the third with a no-hitter and watch the fourth inning from the bench.
  24. It's pretty hard for Pierre to nab a bag when Dusty has Cedeno bunting almost every AB. true dat. it just reminds me of neifi batting in the 2 hole, fouling off pitch after pitch with pierre green lighted, looking to nab a bag. not cool. I really believe Ronny is a better choice to bat 2nd than Neifi...by a wide margin. :D That's a real good point. We have to remember who our other options are. Ronny is insanely better than Bynum or Neifi in the #2 spot. I wish I hadn't forgotten to start Maddux on my fantasy team today.
