  1. What did they do to Aardsma when they sent him down? I'm more impressed by his control than by his triple digit speed. He deserves this win almost as much as Marshall.
  2. I would say that Marshall's flashes of dominance is the best part about this gruesome season. The development of Marshall, Murton and Cedeno almost make this worth it.
  3. The worst possible scenario is that Jim Hendry pulls a Steve Phillips and mortgages the future trying to get this team to reach the playoffs. I'm sure Hendry is already hearing offers but he is waiting for more buyers to enter the market. This is worse than the 2002 Cubs because at least they had guys like Wood and Z in the minors.
  4. The ball of the head of Aramis doesn't sum up this game. It was the fact that the batters in the 11th were an ice cold Jerry Hairston followed by Neifi and Freddie Bynum with Juan Pierre on deck.
  5. Compare how many runs the bullpen gave up compared to the first three innings.
  6. Horrific luck for Ramirez today. I would trade for him in any fantasy league.
  7. I'll give credit where credit is due. That was a fine triple. I still would like to see Neifi replaced on the roster.
  8. I'm calling a Neifi bunt to the pitcher.
  9. What's the worst month in Cubs history? I figure that this can't be rock bottom with our history of futility.
  10. That fan got more cheers than the Cubs have in May.
  11. I'm done this year when Tony Womack gets the starting nod. I would rather see Eric Patterson get rushed. I'm hoping I see neither.
  12. Maybe I'll just save time and just ask someone to kick me in the groin tomorrow.
  13. Looking at the Marlins, I can honestly say that they are much closer to winning a World Series that the Cubs are. They have won twice in the last ten years. The management knows what they are doing. They probably have more productive prospects on their major league team than we have in our entire system.
  14. It's times like these when I tell myself to suffer through the valleys to make the peaks that much higher.
  15. from reading the suntimes and trib today it seems like hendry is going to re-sign baker no matter what happens. I know and I take that as an insult to me as a Cubs fan. If it was my job and the company wasn't performing well and clients were unhappy, the last think I would be thinking about is saving face by continuing on the present course and refusing to admit a mistake. That's exactly what Hendry is doing. We have to stay the course. If we change our way of life then the Cardinals win.
  16. Every announcer sounds better after a White Sox homestand.
  17. You've GOT to be kidding. Seriously. If he's letting the fans get to him that bad ALREADY, he'll be carrying firearms out there in a year. Alou was hitting terribly his first year and a half and he was decent towards the end. Even with Alou's miscues, he's still a much, much better player than Jones.
  18. Signing Jacque Jones may have been more detrimental than anything besides signing Derrek Lee.
  19. JINX!!! That might be the earliest jinx ever...Hill hasn't even thrown a pitch! #-o I normally don't believe in superstition...
  20. I still like Rich Hill but his two pitches seem suited for the bullpen.
  21. Who does the voice? And don't say "the duck". Gilbert Gottfried for an FYI. No kidding? Good to see there is still some acting work out there for that freak. He was funny in the Aristocrats. I find the Cubs offense this last week to be in worse taste any of the jokes in that movie.
