  1. ive just muted them. I hate to say it, but Morgan and Miller are worse then Buck and McCarver. Not right man, McCarver is crap but Buck is a very good commentator that's the funniest thing I've ever read Whats so bad about Buck...just curious i'm sure he's fine while doing cardinal games. . . . . while working for the cardinal organization.

  3. give that man a stick of butter. . . . and / or a can peas!
  4. The Cardinals may be ahead of us by more than 10 games in the standings, but it ain't because of fundementals. Also, it's a bit disingenuous for the Cardinals to cry injury when it has only happened to them recently while the Cubs have been plagued for most of the season. And last season. 2004 may have been the worst injury year I have seen from any team in my memory. 1985 They were drafting guys outta the stands to start games for them.
  5. he was traded for Steve Stone
  6. i walk eckstein. he makes way too good of contact.
  7. Side question: Is there a NSBB contigent that is planning on meeting there? I will be there with my wife, so let me know guys. Cubbie from TX in AR Vance and I will be stalking Ryno all weekend long.
  8. if we get Pierre, you hit him leadoff with Twalk behind him. I can see a few situations where Pierre gets on, steals 2b. . . . walker with a grounder to 2b. . . . . Pierre on 3B with one out --- Lee and ARam to follow. 9 times outta 10 we're scoring a run there. Not too shabby.
  9. you people are crazy. Any uniform worn in the 70s and specifically 80s are awesome. My favorites are the cubs 82-89 road uni's, all baby blue uni's, and the astros "rainbow" uni's. My least favorite would be the recent Padres uni's --- terrible use of whatever color they call it. .. . sand? tan? boody??
  10. On this date, one year ago, the Houston Astros stood at a paltry 45-47. They were 13 games behind the Cardinals and 4 games behind the Cubs. They were left for dead. There was no way they'd win 90 games, much less compete for the post season. Yes, they made a super deal. Still, I don't see where the '04 Astros were all that much better than this year's cubs. It's very very possible that Big Jim has a block buster in the works. It's very very possible that this team can go on a freaking tear and win 90-95 games. Enjoy the ride!
  11. I agree with ZZ. Odd how you hear complaints about a player's longevity and you also hear people complain that players didn't play long enough. People are never happy.
  12. I'm a Grace fan, but he's not in Ozzie Smith's league. Ozzie's nowhere near as great as the hype suggests, but he's still a no-brainer hall of famer. It would have been nice if Grace had developed a power stroke, but it just never happened. I think having Gracie hit 3rd for the Cubs so many years really hurt the team. With he and Ryno you basically had two number 2 hitters hitting back to back.
  13. Raffy was always pegged as a power hitter. He hit for power at MSU and in the minors.
  14. "sometimes our ballpark has played against us with the wind." I can only assume that Baker thinks the wind changes directions when the opposition hits? Jeez, Baker, get a clue.
  15. I could be wrong, but it sounds like A-Rod whining again. Let's see, Texas wasn't a good enough team so he had to get out. Hmm, wonder if he deems the US team "not good enough" so he'll just jump ship and play elsewhere.
  16. maybe i'm just a cold hearted bastard, but unless his folks were just traveling in NYC and happened to have a kid while there, his butt should be playing for the USA.
  17. so Corey and Dubois are Dusty B*****s?
  18. Pujols is, apparently, a fantabulous pitcher!
  19. Well, we've arrived at the all star break. We stand 6 games out of the wild card. In all honesty, I'd say we have just as good a shot as the rest of the teams in WC contention. However, if this team reels off 10 straight wins or 10 straight losses, neither will surprise me. I had a very similar feeling in '03. Who knows, maybe we play a little better after the break, Hendry makes a nice move or two, Nomar comes back to his usual form, and pitching holds. Stranger things have happened. Hopefully, it will be a fun 2nd Half.
  20. Yes, it is. he doesn't look old enough to buy beer
  21. Speaking of this, does anyone really dislike the blue tops, whether it's home or away. I hate them! As I've stated before, I prefer the home whites and road grays. I can live with the blue tops as an alternate jersey on the road, but I don't think they should ever be worn at home. I agree. The only thing I'd change is that I'd bring back pull-over style jerseys . . . . baby blues for alternates. . . . . 80s all the way, baby!
  22. ohman? did wood spontaneously combust?
  23. i can't believe Lenny F. Harris is still in the league.
