  1. I got antsy and didn't like keeping up with gameday, so I went for a 2.5 mile jog. Much to my surprise, we're still winning!!!! Has it been a rough 120 pitches for Z? You guys think he'll get a shot at the shutout?
  2. stupid [expletive] game tracker said "ball in play, no out recorded." I was hoping for a granny. . . .got a jacques instead.
  3. i have Dish and I get WCIU. Seems like last season I was able to get all of those games but this year I cannot. Or maybe it was 2 years ago....not sure if the replacement of FSN Chicago with Comcast had anything to do with it? mlb.tv subscribers can get the WICU games. this absolutely blows my mind.
  4. i have Dish and I get WCIU. You're not in Arkansas, though.
  5. I dont think we, as directv or dishnetwork, subscribers can get WICU games. The only hope we ever have is if our opponent has the broadcast as well.
  6. I supposedly can, on Directv. Washington Nationals at Chicago Cubs 8:00 pm 744 unreal. I'm not slated to get it. Hmmm, even the directv.com/mlb site says it's not on. Maybe I'll get lucky and dishnetwork will get it at gametime. I'm probably not missing much.
  7. I supposedly can, on Directv. Washington Nationals at Chicago Cubs 8:00 pm 744 unreal. I'm not slated to get it.
  8. Our Nation's Capital doesn't have a TV deal? Since it's on WICU or whatever, I can't get it on mlb extra innings. bah!
  9. A bad old Clines is still better than Blanco and Neifi. Clines could coax a walk. Neifi battles not to swings at intentional walks and hates to go to first after them. looks like gene had a career ops in the 600's. niiiiice
  10. Then I explained to my friend how our #1 and #2 RBI guys were strategically benched, but were available for a late inning situation with Hank White at bat and a runner on 3b (less than 2 out). When I told him that Blanco was allowed to hit, my friend responded by saying "Is Baker really that dumb?" I guess what I'm saying is that we gotta take it to the streets! Get the word out! Go door to door! Baker stinks!
  11. i haven't checked baseball-reference, but i bet clines couldn't hit when he played ball, much less now.
  12. Yeah, the typical baseball fan has no clue how much dusty blows. They don't watch the Cubs day in and day out and see the in-game decisions that are made. I gave a buddy of mine the situation from 2 days ago (Young on the mound, Pierre at first, Piazza behind the dish). I just laid out the situaiton and said "What do you think Baker did?" He laughed and said "steal. . . steal all day long on that combo." I told him Baker called a sac bunt and he said "what an idiot. Does this happen often?"
  13. I haven't noticed any new Bruce Miles articles in the past few days. I hope the Baker Mafia didn't take him for a ride.
  14. After you fire baker, you PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. i agree with you. Some of the arguments in this thread suggest that MacPhail, Hendry, and Baker are responsible for putting butts in the seats. That's not the case at all. I recall a time when the Cubs spent next to nothing on payroll --- see 1989 when the Cubs were next to last in the NL in payroll. Over the years, fans complained, and payroll increased. Today, the Cubs have a huge payroll. That payroll is coming from the trib, right? There's really no good answer for the Cubs' problem. I'm like many of you -- I don't believe there is much inspiration for the club to win. If they win, they make a crap ton of money. If they lose, they make a crap ton of money. I just dont buy the argument that MacPhail and Hendry won't go anywhere because we're making money. We made money with Himes, Frey, etc etc etc.
  16. 1. Do you have a brain? 2. When can you start?
  17. take out that game we won and it's 22 runs in 12 games.
  18. I'm obviously no expert, but I just don't see how Cub management deemed Hill as "untouchable."
  19. can we cut all of our players and start over from scratch? hell, that won't work. . . .same ol' higher ups.
  20. There, fixed it. I hope Juan turns it around, but it ain't gonna happen by hitting flyballs.
  21. has prior went into the witness protection program yet?
  22. That's just [expletive] terrible. I try to stay positive, but dang. . . . The sad thing is that I"ll watch ever pitch of the game :D
  23. I don't know that one is more important than the other. They definitely go hand-in-hand. I know in the screwed world (aka: real world) that I live in, Supervisors are held responsible for their hires --- particularly the "high profile" types. In this situation, I think Hendry should be somewhat responsible for Baker. I say "somewhat" because we really don't know if Hendry was the sole decision maker in the Baker process. The way this organization is run, it wouldn't surprise me to know that the higher ups made the Dusty decision. It's pure speculation on my part, so don't flame me, hate me, or wish impending doom upon me, my friends, or my family.
