hawk, every time I play I tell myself, 'if I could hit my driver straight, I'd be in the 70s." Then I realize that no one hits their driver straight every time. I just wish I was consistent --- consistent push, pull, or whatever. I'll say this much about my game --- I'm great at recoveries. Yesterday, on our par 5 510 yard dog leg left, I banana sliced one to the right. I was left with a good 300 yards from the hole. I took out the hybrid, knocked the holy hell out of it, and sat 50 yards from the hole. I ended up tapping in for a par.
  2. You are so not cool. I won't be sharing my cheese toast with you in the future.

Where can I get a dozen cub golf balls? I'd like some to putt with --- proV's would be nice but I can't find any with a cub logo. I've found some DT SLO Titleists and some Callaway Warbirds, but neither are what I'd like to putt with.
  5. Here's how you do it --- you use your brain. Depending on where you sit, you'll know when you're in prime foul ball locations. If you're on the 1st base side, most of your foul balls will come when righties are at the plate --- so be careful. Flip it if your on the third base side. And no, you don't wear your glove every pitch. I'm not the pathetic loser faceman likes to visualize, either. I haven't asked for an autograph at a game since I was 11. I bring a glove to the game for a couple of reasons. For one, it's fun --- we're talking about a baseball game . . . . a child's game. What's the harm in having a little fun in life? Another reason is because my son brings his glove, too. He likes for us to both have a glove there. I can see it now. . . . "son, I'm too manly to bring a glove to a ball game. Someday soon you will turn 12 years and 1 day old and will become a man like your father. We will have the no taking gloves to a ball game ceremony and you will be considered a man from that day forward. We will then have a feast. It will be a glorious time and we will be men. . . . men with no baseball gloves at ballgames!!!!"
  6. Think of Ted Williams with today's travel benefits, better equipment, diluted pitching, and him not missing 3 years to the War.
  7. laugh at me if you wish. My glove is coming with me.
  8. I bet Kyle Lohse is pissed.
  9. Man, I love Willie Mays. Willie is my Dad's favorite player. He got to see him once in SF, but Willie K'd 4 times. Not a very good memory for dear old dad. I like Cobb, too. I'd love to go back in time and watch some games from the early 1900s.
  10. I'd like to see a bullpen upgrade. Other than that, you play your game and hope for as few injuries as possible. Think of what's gone on this year. The cubs go out of the gate pretty well, especially compared to last year. They went on that little run where everything went right. . . . then came what we all thought would be the roughest part of the schedule. 23 of 32 on the road with out soriano. The Cubs go 17-15 and gain a game on the Cardinals. That was impressive. Now we sit at the break at 5 games up in the loss column. You can't ask for any more than that. Other than Dempster, no Cub player is having an incredibly awesome once-in-a-lifetime year. The offense is as consistent as I've ever seen. The pitching staff is impressive with the addition of Harden. The sky's the limit if Hill gets his head back on straight. I would not be surprised by a 7-10 game lead going into September. This team will be tough as nails, assuming the injury bug stays away. Once in the playoffs, anything can happen, but I like our chances with home field advantage.

I ordered the Excel Strongs (X-20 clones). I picked up a 64 degree wedge, too. $170 for all that --- nice. I looked a few club review sites and read nothing but great things about these clubs. The 30 day money back guarantee is nice as well. What's funny is that they recommend a standard shaft length for me --- I'm 6'4". I figured I'd need a longer shaft. I went with their recommendation --- standard shaft, stiff flex. I also went with the stock grips --- I can change them if I don't like them. I've been playing for 12 years or so and this is the first set of new irons I've ever had.

The "social" index list 5 or 6 pages. I click on page 1 and it takes me to the last page. At the bottom is says "page 1 of 1" Weird. Tell me wonderful things about these clubs. I'm considering begging the wifey fore these. . . or at least using my bonus for the month to buy them.

Why can't I read the other pages of this thread? I want to read more about the Pinemeadow clubs. I'm thinking of getting some clones rather than buying old name brand clubs that have been worn out. I'm playing an old set of King Cobra over sized irons (1 1/2 longer shaft) and sometimes they feel a little dead. Of course, they are old.
  14. Do you think the words, "Kid, I'm sorry -- I didn't realize I could hit the ball that hard" ever came up? On a serious note, I hope the little guy can come back and throw out a first pitch, get to meet the team, etc. The times I've taken Ryne to a game, it's pretty tough to enjoy everything for fear that a ball will come screaming your way. You tell yourself it's a one in a million shot, but you still don't want to be that one.
  15. i fear a 4 pitch walk, then a DP on the 1st pitch to the next batter
  16. How about a big ol F-YOU to the wrigley faithful. Giving up the lead stinks. Lou leaving marmol in stinks. However, our team is in 1st place. They have the best record in the league. [expletive] happens over the course of 162 games. Things could be worse. Things have been worse. Far be it for me to think the cubs could score in the 9th and win the game.
  17. Use Marquis' starts to trade him. Throw in a few million and send him packing.
  18. mlb.tv is working fine. Now, once the masses get logged on, this will get choppy and generally crappy. Stuff happens.
  19. I break the man rule every time. I'm a kid at heart and I bring my glove. Also, you can pay attention in those spots and the ball still gets on you really quick. We're talking about major leaguers here. They hit the ball hard. Accidents happen, even to perfectly good parents.
  20. I've wondered if it was possible to put up a super duper hi-def clear plexi-glass "fence" in ballparks. It would have to be something that didn't take away from the awesome view --- no scratches, no haze, no fading, no glare, etc. Otherwise, the owners wouldn't go for it because the most expensive seats would lose value.
  21. I might be looking at the stats the wrong way, but it seems like kosuke is really terrible with 2 strikes --- maybe every major leaguer is terrible with 2 strikes. Maybe he should get the Soriano treatment and hit 5th. His numbers are great there --- .893 OPS. This makes me wonder if he changes his approach based on where he hits in the order. Maybe he looks to drive the ball more when he's in a "power" spot in the order. I've always heard that Ichiro could be a power hitter if that's what the M's needed out of him. Instead, he's a lead off hitter and approaches his at-bats as such. Maybe Kosuke is this way. Just thinking out loud. Please don't hate me.
  22. It's because FOX is paying MLB a buttload of money every year to make it so you can't watch anything else but their game. It's an outmoded structure that needs to go away. What FOX can't seem to grasp is that I'm not going to watch that game. I'm going to do everything in my power to not watch it. If they'd put a little bit of brain power into this thing, they'd make a ton of people happy. . . happy customers mean more money. . . . .why is this so hard? The FOX black never had made sense and it never will.
  23. CSN Tonight bud very misleading game thread title :D plan B: slow, choppy, mlb.tv
  24. So nice . .. .it's a wonderful episode of Family Ties on WGN at my house. What the hell?
