  1. Wait. They picked the Cubs to win the WS last year? Damn, they're dumb.
  2. I bet a small percentage of those braves fans were fans prior to the early 90s. I never saw more bandwagoners than after the 1991 season. Wow. I always liked watching Dale Murphy and Ken Oberkfell, but I cared what happened to the cubs.
  3. I live in Arkansas and I've never met a cub fan that looked down on me. Of course, I'm 6'4''. The Red Sox and Yankees can say what they want, but I'm convinced there are more Cub fans across this nation than any other baseball team fans.
  4. that's grandpaw Hogg
  5. I'm an old family guy now --- I can't get filthy drunk. I can pop a top and celebrate a little. . . . after all, there will be kids in home.
  6. I forgot about the kids. Ryne went to school wearing his home jersey. One of school volunteers is a cub fan and told Ryne he had to wear a cub shirt every day this week. God bless out local school system.
  7. I also have just enough Stags and High Lifes in the fridge to celebrate all 11 post season victories.
  8. i usually watch the cubs in the nude, but today I'm sick and have layer upon layer of clothes on. . . none of which are cub related. However, for halloween, I'm going as Ryne Sandberg (circa 1997 -- full home uni). I'm also taking medication.
  9. I just can't see a Lou managed club going below .500. I can't see a Lou club not being in the pennant race. His tenure with the Rays didn't happen. . . nope. Oh . . . . .Gene Michael http://www.mlbfansite.com/files/cache/gene-michael-chicago-cubs-8x10-photo_0b46bed29b2b90739e167193b957958c.jpg Dude was 68-68 in '87.
  10. I love how "experts" just casually throw Harden into the "inconsistent pitcher" pile. Yeah, they can keep on assuming Lee will struggle. They fail to realize that he's the 4th best hitter on our team -- if that. And of course the Cubs can pitch around Manny all series. The only reason it didn't happen down the stretch is because the dodgers didn't play anyone who had a dog in the hunt.
  11. i'm a pall bearer at a funeral on Thursday, but I'll be back in time for the game.
  12. What is it going to take for people to consider Rich Harden as a great pitcher?
  13. They won about 61% of their games this year, right?
  14. I liked him as a cub and like him just fine now. Of course, we share an affection for the ladies who are larger than life. . . ..
  15. You forgot Gammons. That turd burglar predicted the Dodgers. I saw it on the video on the Cubs' ESPN team page.
  16. Somehow he lost 11 games. I have a hard time saying we'll probably lose this one. I hope the Cubs don't share this defeatist attitude.
  17. I saw a stat where the Cubs have the most wins in the NL. It probably means nothing, however.
  18. My first game was in 1985. It was the first game after the mini-strike. We had tickets to see the Cards and Cubs play a few games in SL, but only got to see one game. John Tudor 1 hits the Cubs. Leon Durham got the lone hit and the Cubs turned a triple play. My first game at Wrigley came in August of '89. The Cubs were 1 game behind the 1st place Expos. The took on the 'spos and Maddux was on the hill. He threw a gem, Ryno went yard, and the Cubs tied for first place and never left that position. I'll never forget walking up the steps to the grand stands. . . . .. seeing the ivy creep into view. . . followed by the greenest grass God ever created. I was 12 years old and I could barely breathe.
  19. Len, I grew up listening to Harry and Steve and I can honestly say you guys are the best Cub broadcasting duo I've ever heard --- and that's no knock on the combo of Harry and Steve. Keep up the great work.
  20. If I get NLCS tickets, I'll find a way to make it up there.
  21. Jeez, Sutcliffe sounds like Will Ferrel impersonating Harry Caray.
  22. bag o' ass. Pitchers don't even have to throw strikes to him. I hope he gets better and I hope he produces in October, but I'm not holding my breath.
  23. Someone tell him to say "The Cubs won't win the World Series"
  24. water = wet joe morgaon = dufus sky = blue what else is new? I heard those comments, too. What a goob.
