  1. It would be fun to watch 81 games of PCA at Chase Field. Even more at Coors.
  2. Cubs pitchers gave up 32 billion HR this spring for whatever reason.
  3. Average pitching staff, well-above average defense, above- average offense. I'm projecting 87-88 wins +/- 3 wins of variability. I think the wildcard here is the offense. You get solid offensive years out of PCA, Amaya. and Shaw plus Tucker has a typical very good year and the offense could take off and be iinside the top 7 in MLB.
  4. PCA led the MLB in ST with a 249 wRC+ and hit .500. He also didn't take a walk and somehow had a batting average higher than his OBP hahaha. Amaya hit ,500 too. Cody Bellinger hit .423 with 4 HR. Tucker/Bellinger regrets LOL jk.
  5. Let's hope PCA stays healthy and doesn't run through a wall. Alcantara looks like he has a hole in his swing for sliders & hard breaking stuff like Morel does. RHB with big long swings seem susceptible to that.
  6. Utility man Vidal Brujan to the 10-day IL Reliever Tyson Miller to the 15-day IL Reliever Ryan Brasier to the 15-day IL Reliever Keegan Thompson outrighted to Iowa Brasier down, that sucks, apparently a hip issue. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2025/03/26/cubs-roster-moves-brujan-miller-brasier-thompson-morgan-ish/ Is Nico on the roster?
  7. Also my guess.
  8. The Astros aren't dumb enough to think Smith couldn't use at least another season in the upper minors a la Matt Shaw. I don't know their entire OF situation but they must be slim on options if he's their best option in RF and Alruve is whiffing on flyballs in LF. If Smith sucks he goes back down to the minors and the service clock stops. No harm no foul for the Astros minus adding him to the 40-man.
  9. I'm 100% sure that convo happened.
  10. They'll be turned into cyborgs soon enough don't you worry.
  11. I just checked. Dbacks played their last 2 spring games at Chase Field and Monday was a night game. That doesn't sound particularly fair lol. You're right though, if everyone played day games or same # of night games that would be fair.
  12. Wouldn't it make sense to schedule 1 or 2 night games to finish ST if they're going to play 3 night games in a row to start the season?
  13. Everything that happens after the trade is hindsight. Whether or not Tucker extends doesn't even go into the trade calculation. What they traded for was exclusive negotiating rights with Tucker until this Nov. They can't control if he's determined to go to FA regardless of the offer. Sure. But Hoyer should be evaluated on the trade on the day its made. He shouldn't get credit if Smith bombs and shouldn't get blamed if Tucker tears a hammy. FO's aren't Nostradamus as you seem to agree.
  14. Hindsight is 20/20 though.
  15. Yeah he could be the next Brennen Davis too. If Smith eventually turned into a 3 WAR guy the Astros should be very happy with that. He's a big guy so the glove could hold him back too, especially in the OF which he hasn't played. Seems doubtful he's going to play much 3B with Paredes there for 3 seasons.
  16. I think they're sticking him in RF to replace Tucker. A position he hasn't really played already puts him at a disadvantage at least in terms of WAR this year. This is a pretty desperate move by the Astros. I suppose the worst that happens is he just goes back down to the minors and takes up a 40-man spot.
  17. I agree with you, and I think that Wrigley has been our curse in some ways, for many decades. When you can fill the stands without a good team it reduces the incentive to build a winner.
  18. It's almost like this entire org collapsed after 2017. Glad things have seemingly improved on the international end. It's unlikely this current crop is going to be the 2015-2017 Cubs. Difficult to run into a 6-8 WAR player like Bryant, especially with mid-1st round picks and leadership that doesn't want to commit the money to get one in FA. If they won't tank or sign stars the only way to get elite players (and become an elite 95+ win team) is going to be trading for one like Tucker, which is why I'm ok with that trade. Only other way is just getting lucky in the draft and international prospects. Jed has shown he knows how to draft, sign, or trade for solid prospects with 3-4 WAR upside that can land in the top 100. If we can trade some for elite talent here and there then that's what we have to do. Then again, we don't necessarily have to be an elite team to win a WS. An 88 or 90-win team can win, Cubs just need to get into the playoffs.
  19. I get what you're saying. Everyone does a cost/benefit analysis of their purchasing decisions. If the cost of you not enjoying the Cubs product and losing your slot as a season ticket holder is higher than the benefit of the mild financial hit it would put on the Cubs brass improve their product then that's 100% fine, i'm not going to begrudge you. But if enough of us did change some of our buying decisions it would likely make a difference. The low attendance after the 1994 strike did influence future collective agreement negotiation tactics.
  20. I agree, ST stats for vets are typically meaningless. If any period does matter to them its the last week of ST when they're not experimenting on new things as much and trying to get into game form. Cubs pitching hasn't look good this spring, but it doesn't mean anything. It would be really nice if Marquee could hook up a gun for the TV broadcast,
  21. You're free to do whatever you want also. Just don't expect things to change. We're all very loyal to this team, even when they suck (including myself), it's our curse and Tom takes advantage of it.
  22. Cubs are now doing shrinkflation LOL. We need to stop giving the Cubs so much of our money. It's the only way they'll make changes because money is the only thing they care about. They keep squeezing us just like many other big corporations do to their customers.
