  1. Yes but more assumptions and speculation i think. Moving Nico for Bregman would be really stupid given how much more expensive Bregman would be. Keep Nico and you can sign someone else for 10-15m Shaw also has a lot more experience at 3b and says he's much more comfortable there because of it.
  2. Ok you're right about the LT. I found this from 2 days ago: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/astros-trade-rumors-left-handed-bat-luxury-tax.html
  3. No the point is they acquired 2 different 3B in the Tucker trade, making a longterm deal for Bregman less likely.
  4. The Red Sox payroll is the same as ours right now. They have room to add. But with Devers where would Bregman play? Blue Jays are at 273m, and had 240m last year. I find it unlikely they add a salary like Bregman.
  5. Just a note that after the Pressly trade with us (where they got a prospect in return) the Astros have dipped under the LT and are at 236m in LT payroll right now. They were at 262m and over the LT last year, but in the few years prior were under the tax. It may be that they want to reset this year and are out on Bregman. Dumping a good player like Pressly might be a sign they're trying to get under the tax and are done adding. The only significant player they added this year was Walker at 1b. What might show they're still in on Bregman is that Altuve has been working out in LF the last couple of weeks, but that could just be for flexibility. They have Paredes and Cam Smith. IMO when they added Paredes and Cam Smith they were probably out on Bregman longterm.
  6. Reminder that alleged "offers" as rumors can just be Boras planting lies used for leverage in negotiation. It could also be that nobody is offering more than 4 or 5 years at this point, or Astros have moved on. We don't know what to believe so everything is with a grain of salt.
  7. Robertson, Jansen, Pivetta, Canha, Turner etc still left out there, plus Bregman and a bunch of relievers and bench guys. If Pivetta comes down enough he'd be worth the QO pick. I have no issues with Rea for depth at 5m, that's worth the 1 WAR or so he can give. We have about 22-24 left to spend, maybe a bit more, and no less than 4 solid options out there that can improve the team.
  8. I think he's owed the equivalent of 60m over the next 3 years by the Cards. A bunch of it deferred through 2041 lol
  9. Is Arenado an option here? Would he even be worth the bother?
  10. We're screwed. With around 32m left minus about 8m in space what is plan B? Could always try to get Robertson on a good deal, maybe 10m. Or some kind of trade, even eating salary for a year
  11. https://youtu.be/uACvFAm6JSM?si=mXWNdsE2Fnh47zCo
  12. It would be trading 2 years of a 4 WAR player on a good contract for 3 years of a 2 WAR player. Schmidt is an average pitcher.
  13. If we were all Bregman we wouldn't want the short term deal either. But if the market and offer isn't there he has no choice.
  14. If they trade any of them just for a money dump Ricketts is a cheap POS
  15. Hoyer signing Bregman then trading Nico for something like Cease (or King) + prospect would be crazy. I don't think it happens but it could. An NLCS of Dodgers vs Cubs could be a classic. Nico for Cease or King would need to come with another player/prospect because of Nico's 2nd year. King is a much bigger risk than Cease obviously because of the lack of track record. I think the Cubs would want Cease.
  16. Altuve has been working out in LF the last few weeks: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/astros-jose-altuve-already-working-out-in-left-field/
  17. Except Soto and Snell. I guess he's still really good with the elite players but only so much you can do with others.
  18. Yeah she got Bellinger before everyone. She might know somebod.y. Boras clients too
  19. What's the latest from KatyPerrysBootyHole?
  20. If he signs a longer term deal, like 4 years, then that might matter and hitting environment not as much
  21. You're correct. My bad.
  22. Everything else equal, If I were Bregman I'd want to sign with the Red Sox or Astros because of the hitting environment. Cubs and Tigers would be much lower.
  23. Pecota projects 84 wins for the Cubs hahaha
