I don't have any ill will towards Tucker at all, but as of this moment the Tucker trade and Bellinger dump have been a bust, hindsight being 20/20. Can't predict a hand injury though.

Play Caissie every game. I'd even consider bringing up Mo again and just IL'ing Tucker, maybe retroactive to whatever.

Craig says Tucker's fracture is fully healed, and playing through it may have "changed since things" (hopefully means mechanically).

Lol. Well Cubs likely did him a solid and hid it from the league for a couple months to help his FA market, but can't hide it anymore. At least he's not on the IL i guess. He probably should have rested weeks ago.

Agree. I do think the Cubs are a good team, but also think a bunch of hitters and most of the pen played over their heads the first half and were going to regress. The last month sucks but at the end of the year the numbers will probably look about right. It's just weird they're almost all hot or cold at the same time and it seems to happen every year. Hoping the Brewers regress soon too because they aren't as good as they've been obviously the last month and a half.

Unless we have too many prospects or good young players at a particular position and someone is therefore blocked (eg Torres for Chapman trade, Soler for Davis etc) I'm usually in favor of keeping a good prospect and rolling the dice on them having good value for us for 6-7 seasons than grabbing a rental. 2 months or even 1.5 years for 6-7 years is usually not logical. Besides Soroka I think Jed did fine at the deadline given the options. I agree overpaying for a good 1st half is also not logical.

I love watching Shaw and Nico run. Nico rounding 3rd and chugging for home at max effort is the best.

Turner has a .802 OPS and .291 AVG vs LHP this year. But .364 OPS and .119 AVG vs RHP.

But why not sit him before the Pirates series to get him ready for this series? It makes no sense, nothng has changed.

Or this series. They needed to win at least 4 of 5 for any realistic shot of this division. They blew the 1st game so Counsell threw in the towel. Tucker sitting is the lineup version of putting your worst pitcher in the game when trailing late to save better arms for later. Why this wasn't done before this series nobody knows. Hurt or not the timing makes no sense.

He gets to play through it. He's going to be a free agent and needs as much WAR as possible, even at a trickle is better than benched. The Cubs may also be hiding it for him to be good dudes and help him out in that way. They aren't going to snitch to the public about the injury and then turn around and try to convince him to sign here.

Yes Tucker's swing speed has dropped about 1.5 mph since June 1, exactly. when he hurt his finger. May have affected the launch angle too as 1908 showed that graph which tracks the same timeline.

Caissie looked really bad today on everything not a fastball. He looks like he's playing t-ball up there and looking for fastball over the heart of the plate to drive. That's not going to play.
