I hope we don't have that feeling where it's 30 mins past the deadline and we're waiting for the Cubs to do one more move and haven't heard anything and just waiting for a late announcement that never happens LOL
I think this move was to clear space to make room for PCA in AAA, and add some relief depth in Iowa.
I don't think any of the relievers traded for so far will end up on the MLB team soon, more trades to come for legit relievers.
Morel sucks in the field except maybe middle infield so can't blame them. Partly the Cubs fault for making him play a ton of positions and trying to make him a super utility guy, which was a terrible decision for a guy with little fielding skills to begin with.
Candelario can't really hit LHP so I could see a platoon there, some starts from Madrigal or wisdom vs LHP.
Really terribly ABs lately, half swinging on everything. I'd consider benching him some this series. He's just bad at recognizing pitches, he's a pure guess hitter.
Stroman had to do better yesterday, you can't give up 6 runs early.
Decent prospects, but I'm fine with it. Hertz has obvious control issues and Made is solid but maybe not much of a future on our MLB team, being blocked by guys and a questionable bat.
Candelario was arguably the best bat on the market and they have to give up something for him. I'm hoping maybe an extension for him?
So if we acquire another bat then who moves off the 26-man roster? Candidates are Amaya, Wisdom, Tauchman, maybe Mancini or Madrigal.
I would think maybe Amaya is most likely.
It would be interesting to know how much extra revenue a big star like Ohtani brings in. It could pay for some of the salary, I'm sure they'd factor that in.
If Ben Brown or Wicks were killing it in AAA I could maybe see a trade more likely. It's still possible but I dunno, not sure what they'll do. Maybe it will just depend on the offer they get.
