  1. That is strange. My mlb says Fox is the broadcast. It definitely doesn’t show “no broadcast available”. I do think, now, I will get the game.
  2. I listen to the score with the app on my phone. However I can’t get the games when they are on. So no Pat and Eon for me.
  3. ESPN is showing undecided for Sunday and Assad for Monday. Did the cubs announce Assad? That is odd.
  4. Question that I hope someone can answer. For all the out of network viewers if the Fox game in your area isn’t the Cubs game can you get the game through the mlb subscription? I am in Az. Fox is showing the Dodgers game here. Cubs will not be televising on Marquee. But Fox is carrying the game. So if I go to the Cubs/Cardinals game in mlb will I get the Fox broadcast?
  5. Honestly it would have been nice to have both. Morel mainly DH. With injuries and some strugggles I am sure Tauchman would have still played plenty as well. But TR didn’t want that money spent.
  6. This is what I don’t understand about poster at times. And I am definitely not just speaking of you. Do you really think that the Cubs don’t know what they have? Do you think that if they truly thought Vasquez would be a better option than Madrigal he wouldn’t have been up already? Besides suggesting they should give him a try and he might hit better, you are also assuming he is a better fielder at 3rd than Madrigal. Again, I ask, if he is a better fielder and hitter why wouldn’t he have already been up? And as someone pointed out, if he or Madrigal does go to 3rd they would probably be taking Tauchman or Happ’s bat out of the line up. Both of those guys most assuredly are better hitters than Vasquez or Madrigal. And this team needs hitting.
  7. But he could have pitched Saturday and still pitched against the Brewers on Thursday. No idea why they would skip him.
  8. I would say he absolutely will start tomorrow. Better question is will Gray start Sunday.
  9. I think whenever possible Counsel likes to give his staff an extra day. Lot of guys he is monitored inning for. Assad is one of them. Since they play 13 in a row I expect him to have a bullpen day. Doing this would also keep Imanaga on a 6 day schedule. Again, something I think they want to do. As for Hendricks, 1 would like to see something happen with him. But to me it is more likely either Hodge or Little get sent down when Smyly is activated. But as I said, I hope you are right.
  10. I disagree with the statement the Cubs ceiling is 87 wins. I would say they built a team you can expect to win between 84-90 games. And basically that is what they are doing. I don’t disagree with what else you said. I just think using the word ceiling is wrong.
  11. Because Vazquez probably can’t hit. Might as well let Madrigal play 3rd if you are going to do that.
  12. Sure they do. They always have a mop up guy. Someone used in low leverage. If the game is a 1 run game or even the Cubs up by 2, I would not want to see Hendricks. The Braves crush him. No reson to forfeit a game if they can win.
  13. I don’t see this as a game for Hendricks. Unless they are losing by a lot I don’t expect him to pitch ever. And especially not against the Braves.
  14. Regardless of what his final numbers show, he pitched well tonight.
  15. Well I think we know whose place Smyly takes on the roster.
  16. Didn’t think of that. But I don’t think the Cubs should lose a prospect so that they can dump Kyle’s contract. I firmly believe they will go over the first threshold, if they need to do so, to get help. I would be shocked if they basically gave away a prospect so that someone can eat Kyle’s contract. I also don’t think the Cubs need to add “a couple” of relievers. In fact, I don’t think they need to add any middle relief pen arms. If they are going to add a pen arm, IMO, it has to be a closer. Scott, Miller, Helsley, Bednar. Someone like that.
  17. I think Kyle to the one is just temporary. I think if/when all are healthy (July) there is not a place for Kyle. IMO, Alzolay will be out for the year. With that in mind this is the 13 I would have on the staff: Steele, Imanaga, Taillion, Assad, Wicks, Leiter, Neris, Merryweather, Wesneski, Brown, Smyly, Miller, & Almonte. The only 2 with options left are Brown and Wesneski. They lack a closer. That would be what I would look for at the deadline. That would push everyone back a spot in their role. Kind of what the Dbacks did when they got Seward last year. If/when they change anyone out either Brown or Wesneski would have to be sent down. None of the others could be without clearing waivers. For now, they Cubs can mess around with that 4th and 5th spot. Mainly go Assad and Wicks, but if you want to limit a few innings you can skip them and plug in Brown or Wesneski once or twice. You can also start one of Brown or Wesneski to give the entire rotation an extra day.
  18. That right does not include the right to not accept being dfa. So no idea what having a full 10/5 does in this situation.
  19. Second hard hit ball from him. Hopefully he breaks out of his dunk. But he’s, trrrible luck.
  20. My guess is unless that ball is fumbled away after it drops one of the Cubs runners would have been out on the bases anyway. That Suzuki ball puts runners in a real bad spot. Swanson got back, which tells me he probably wouldn’t have made 3rd.
  21. Is Miller a guy? He has looked pretty good. He doesn’t have any options, so he better be a guy.
  22. 2 earned runs in 4 2/3 with the wind blowing out against a very good line up isn’t too bad. Too many pitches.
  23. Agreed. And/or in mop up duty in games they are down by a lot.
  24. But with bench guys it is more luck that they have a good year than actually a quality player who agrees to sit the bench. Watching the Phillies right now.. They have Roger Clemens kid playing second base. He is a bench bat hitting over .320. But he is 28 and sucked until now. But because he is hitting now does that make him a good bench bat? Most likely he will suck again. Last year when Mastrobuoni came back he hit over .300. Madrigal’s carrier average isn’t bad. The bench bat is just a tough spot to fill with guys being good one year and sucking the next. Thr nature of the position, bench middle infielder almost guarantees whoever you have is a crap shoot on if he will be good or not. It is kind of sinilar to middle relief pitchers. Also guesswork. I am not saying you are wrong. They do need more production from the bench. I am just saying going into the year there is no sure fire bench bat, especially not for middle infield. Zack Short is the Braves bench middle infielder.
