  1. Help me connect the dots here? Why? Bellinger to the Yankees as well as Bregman?
  2. Love to have Tucker and want so much for Jed to finally hook the big fish. But not for what the Astros are asking. I think he needs to walk away and go back to looking into Bellinger+ for a pitcher and then maybe a prospect or two for Lowe. Puts Suzuki back in right field with no everyday DH. Not super exciting but still a solid team. Can’t make a team be real able. If the Astros are not reasonable they have to walk away.
  3. Any chance Valdez is in the deal too. Smith, Suzuki and Parades, maybe Wicks too, for Tucker and Valdez. Because that ask is crazy for just Tucker. Wouldn’t do it if they added Pressley even. Might with Valdez added.
  4. Yep, that is a pass for me. Parades, Alcantara and maybe Wicks is about as much as I would give up. If they want Smith instead of either Parades or Alcantara that works too. Not parting with Suzuki.
  5. ABSOLUTELY!!! Just get it done!
  6. I am way more concerned about losing out on Tucker than I am Kelly. I just have a bad feeling Jed isn’t going to get this one over the line. I feel like if Bregman goes to the Yankees then the Astros have enough money to sign Tucker. Besides that, the Bellinger interest fades. If he does sign with the Astros, the Yankees have motivation to trade for Tucker. And probably become a better fit with a better pitcher headlining the deal. Besides that, now Parades is not as desirable to the Astros. I just don’t like Jed’s chances here. And if this falls flat I am not sure what else they can do.
  7. Simpliest explanarion aways the best. Just waiting to announce Kelly.
  8. So if he signs with the Astros they then trade Tucker. But the Yankees are still an option because they lost out on Bregman. And now Parades becomes less of an option for the Astros. But if he signs with the Yankees, Bellinger is no longer an option for the Yankees and probably not Tucker either. But the Astros then have money to sign Tucker. Parades becomes more saught after(due to the Astros needing a 3rd baseman) but Astros now have money to keep Tucker. If he goes anywhere else it comes down to which deal do the Astros like better, Cubs or Yankee. WOW, what a crazy scenario. Somehow I fear the Cubs are on the outside looking in at this when the smoke clears.
  9. Easy choice for me. Keep Shaw and trade Smith. Shaw is closer and they need someone this year. I do acknowledge this opinion could come back to bite me. .
  10. Are or aren’t? I do think the Yankees are also talking to the Cubs about Bellinger. At least, according to reports they are. There are several scenarios in place. My fear is the Cubs end up with nothing.
  11. The last thing I saw seemed to suggest the cubs were balking at paying down some of Bellinger’s contract in a trade to the Yankees. That better not be the reason it doesn’t happen. Pay some down, giving them more money to go after Bregman, therefore, Parades becomes more valuable to the Astros. Even if they paid $10M of Bellinger salary, replacing him with Tucker and his contract would be close to even. So they would still have $30M for a pitcher, catcher and a 3rd baseman/bench bat. I guess Shaw could possibly start at 3rd. Maybe they even get that pitcher in the Yankees trade. Whatever the case, Cubs need a win here. They need to get Tucker.
  12. I like the Schmidt idea. He slots ahead of Tailon. Bellinger and a higher end prospect for Schmidt works for me. Then trade for Tucker and worry about a pen arm later.
  13. Also very true.
  14. And the Yankees have a lot of starting pitchers.
  15. Shaw doesn’t feel like a fit IF they sign Bregman. But I agree their outfield could use work too if Tucker is traded. So maybe Alcantara or Cassie instead.
  16. So is this assuming they don’t sign Bregman If he did come back to the Astros that would cover a corner. Regardless of the cost, the Cubs could fill their needs. All depends on if Jed is willing to move that is needed.
  17. I’m hoping for plan B. Not sure who the pitcher is, but on the hitting side I hope it is a Tucker. And I think it is possible.
  18. Hard not to think that way, tbh. But it does feel a little different this year than years past. At least we hear a lot about Cubs options. Years past we would be complaining right now about Jed not doing anything. But with prior years of Jed not being aggressive I am in the “I will believe it when I see it” mode. Just hopeful I am it disappointed again.
  19. I saw that too. In order to take part in the rule 5 draft they have to be under 40 guys.
  20. I know. I reread your statement. I still disagree. I don’t think the roster is a mess. I think they have a lot of good, not great players. I think a couple of moves and they can be a very good team. There is enough money to spend and prospects to trade to make that happen. Now, what I am it sure of is if Jed can make it happen. I am very encouraged that Jed and Carter are seemingly involved in so many options.
  21. I thought Shaw because of the Crawford Boxes. I like your options better.
  22. So Cassie? Alcantara? We can always give them Bellinger😬 too. Just curious as to what a haul would look like for them. Cassie, Birdsell+?
  23. I would think Shaw has to be in the deal. He seems like a guy the Astros would want. But what else goes. He suggested prospect haul.
  24. I hope you are right. Love to see a bat like Tucker and/or an arm like Crochet added to the team.
  25. That is possible. But I think at the very least the Cubs will come away with Kelly and a starting pitcher. Maybe also a pen arm.
