Yeah. It’s all up to the Cubs to handle business though. Time to wake the horsefeathers up. They play Milwaukee 5 straight games at home coming up. They’ve pissed away their lead and they have a prime opportunity to make it back up in one series. Won’t happen playing like this though obviously
Annoying 2 months of baseball. 27-25 over the last 2 months. Don’t really care why we are losing specific games as much as it’s happening too often.
You would think that all your big bats wouldn’t slump at the same time and for such an expanded period of time. I know Kyle’s slump is better than most people’s slumps, but like come on… it’s time to start turning it around at some point. PCA has taken some atrocious AB’s lately. Seiya is in a major funk. So on and so forth.
Then the whole Soroka fiasco. Your big deadline deal for a SP is an average guy when healthy that is already experiencing a velo dip and now he’s out after 2 innings for no telling how long.
I still believe we will be fine. Still one of the best records. Milwaukee just continues to win over and over and over. I’m not saying it’s the end of the world. It’s just frustrating. I guess it’s just a part of the ebbs and flows of a baseball season. This one just feels bigger and more annoying than most all things considered (the way Milwaukee is playing, the failure of the TDL, subpar baseball for 2 straight months, big bats with a prolonged slump, etc). Lot of baseball left though.
Jed might trade for Paul Skenes in 5 minutes and make me look dumb, but he’s an extremely safe GM. Not shocked he’s waiting until the last possible second to make the best deal possible. He’s not going to go outside of his comfort zone. I still think the only reason he made the Tucker trade is because he HAD to put a winning product on the field this year.
Counter argument (or point, not necessarily argument) to your last paragraph is the Correa to Houston deal fell all the way apart. Then they were able to start it back up this afternoon and get it done. The groundwork has been laid. You can go from not close to done deal in one phone call.
I want more 100% but I’m not going to be all that mad if we don’t empty the farm for guys that may or may not be all that worth it. Even the top end starters available aren’t exactly aces. Good pitchers? Absolutely. #1’s that are shut down? Nah
If it’s the same thing I saw it’s just a fan account throwing horsefeathers against the wall. I can practically guarantee you the Cubs aren’t trading Matt Shaw
Feels like Jed has a lot going on. Excited to see the outcome. The 3 team trade makes sense. Good to hear we are still battling for Alcantara. Plus you know Jed works in silence. No telling what all he has working right now. Should be an exciting few hours
Love yall but starting a thread and then locking it, then starting another TDL thread this morning for like an hour then locking it, then moving to another thread is annoying. I never know where to go on here to talk baseball. I’m scared to start a thread because I might get put in timeout if it’s in the wrong place lol. Just a minor complaint. Anyways back to the TDL talk
I’m betting Jed lands one of Cabrera, Alcantara, Ryan, or Gore today plus Willi Castro. If that happens, then I’d say this deadline is a success.
Id take a massive trade with Minnesota that lands us Ryan, Castro, and Jax lol
Do you think Shaw forced Jed not to pay up for Suarez based on his play since the ASB, or do you think that had little effect and Jed just didn’t want to match / beat whatever Seattle offered? I know it’s hard to say without knowing the return yet, just curious your thoughts
